He portrayed a writer in the film Bullets Over Broadway. In the drama-comedy The Road to Wellville, he played a minor character. His acting chops were on full display in the 1996 picture City Hall. After a role in the action flick Con Air, he provided the voice of the male protagonist in the animated picture Anastasia. The film “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil,” in which he co-starred with Tom Hanks, launched his career in 1997.
A captain in the World War II films The Thin Red Line, which starred Cusack. The year 1998 marked the debut of this movie. His next major success, the disaster movie 2012, was released in 2009. Later, in 2012, he appeared in “The Raven,” James McTeigue’s film adaptation of the life of Edgar Allan Poe. In the years that followed, he had a number of cinematic parts, including in such films as The Paperboy, The Butler, The Grand Piano, and The Bag Man. In 2014, he appeared in the comedic drama “Maps to the Stars” alongside Julianne Moore and Robert Pattinson. The picture was a commercial flop, unfortunately. He appeared in the 2018 film River Runs Red. ‘Never Grow Old’ premiered the following year and included him.
