John Marwood Cleese was born on 27 October 1939, in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, England, to Reginald Francis Cleese, an insurance salesman, and Muriel Evelyn. While at “St Peter’s Preparatory School,” he was an English scholar and sports star on the cricket and boxing teams. His first performing role was in a school play when he was just 12 years old.

In 1969, he co-created the British sketch comedy series ‘Monty Python’s Flying Circus’ with the other members of ‘Monty Python. The series was carried on ‘The BBC Television network. He was one of the first members of the television industry to start the video production business Video Arts in 1972. His self-help book “Families and How to Survive Them” became a bestseller in 1983. Also released that year was the film “Monty Python’s The Meaning of Life,” which he co-wrote. The following year, he played the role of ‘Mr. Stimpson,’ a disciplinarian school headmaster in the British comedy film ‘Clockwise.’ In the 1981 British fantasy film “Time Bandits,” he portrayed “Robin Hood.”
