Joanna Trollope was born on December 9th, 1943. Her parents were Arthur George Cecil Trollope and Rosemary Hodson. She is a member of the fifth generation of the Trollope family and is a niece of the Victorian novelist Anthony Trollope. Her cousin James Trollope is also a writer and broadcaster. She received her primary education at Reigate County School for Girls and then continued her studies at St. Hugh’s College in Oxford.
She wed the financier David Roger William Potter on the 14th of May in 1966, and the couple went on to have two daughters together, Antonia and Louise. They got a divorce in 1983.
