Jeremy John Wade is a British television presenter, author of books on fishing, “freshwater detective,” and biologist. He was born on March 23, 1956, in the United Kingdom. River Monsters, Mighty Rivers, and Dark Waters are some of the television series that he created and starred in. As a result of his extensive travels and his success in catching a wide variety of freshwater and saltwater fish in a variety of environments, he is considered to be one of the most accomplished fishermen in the history of the sport.
Jeremy Wade was raised up in Nayland, where his father served as the vicar. Jeremy Wade was born in Ipswich. He received his education at Dean Close School, his bachelor’s degree in zoology from Bristol University, and his postgraduate teaching certificate in biological sciences from the University of Kent. He is currently working as a teacher. He has previous experience teaching biology to high school students in the state of Kent. During the course of his travels around the world, Wade has suffered from malaria, been confronted with a threat while holding a gun to his head, and lived through an aircraft disaster.
He is also fluent in French and Spanish in addition to his native tongue of Portuguese, which he learned while working as a fisherman in Brazil for a number of years. Jeremy Wade began fishing when he was a child while he was living in East Anglia, on the banks of Suffolk’s River Stour. This was the beginning of Jeremy Wade’s lifelong passion for the sport. “There was a river that ran through the middle of the village where I grew up. As a result, I believe it was inevitable that I should be drawn to it, much in the same way that people who are born in the vicinity of Alpine peaks grow up to be mountain climbers.
My early attempts to capture fish, when I was around 7 or 8 years old, were fruitless; but, I eventually received some instruction from a school friend, and after making my first catch, I have never looked back. My parents were content for me to spend the entire day away from home, and a significant component of my interest in fishing was a desire to explore new areas, a quest that I have maintained to this day.
In 1982, Wade embarked on his first tour outside of the country, which took him to the Himalayan rivers of India. When Wade thought back to this trip, he recalled that it was an extremely challenging one. I only brought £200 with me to sustain me for three months, but I was successful in catching some fish like Himalayan mahseer that weighed up to 18 pounds each. After Wade returned to England, he contributed to an issue of a fishing magazine by writing a couple of articles about his time spent fishing in India. “Despite the inconvenience of traveling at such a basic level, there was a great sensation of satisfaction, and I immediately started saving money so that I could go somewhere else.
Although they were probably not as extensively recorded as mahseer, other unusual fish must exist, and some of them could be even more amazing than mahseer. At that point, I wasn’t sure where they were, but I knew there must be some. When we were on another trip to India in 2005, we were in the foothills of the Himalayas. It was there that the idea for the television series River Monsters was conceived for the very first time. Wade began his investigation after hearing rumors from residents in the area that some people had been reported missing after going missing in the river. “The locals speculated that a gigantic fish was responsible for the crime.
It had the makings of a great television show, and not just for individuals who were interested in fish and fishing; it could have been exciting for anyone. The fish turned out to be a Goonch catfish, and Wade was able to land a specimen weighing 161 pounds after a grueling battle for the episode. He has traveled to the rainforests of the Congo and the Amazon on numerous occasions. Wade travels the world in search of new fish, often enlisting the assistance of local fishermen along the way.
In 1992, Wade and Paul Boote collaborated on the writing of their first book, which was titled Somewhere Down the Crazy River and was published. River Monsters is another book that Wade has authored. It describes his travels and hunting expeditions all around the world. Jeremy Wade made his acting debut in the 1986 Bollywood film Allah Rakha, playing an extra; he would later return to cinema in the 2014 film Blood Lake: Attack of the Killer Lampreys, playing a lamprey specialist. Jeremy Wade made his acting debut in the 1986 Bollywood film Allah Rakha, playing an extra. A prior episode of River Monsters called “Vampires of the Deep” had given him the opportunity to discuss the fish.
In 2016, Wade and his crew were filming on a remote island close to Australia when they came across a man who had become marooned on the island after losing his boat while digging for oysters. The man had become stuck on the island. Before Wade and his crew discovered him, the man, who they later determined to be Tremaine, had been marooned on the island for a total of two days. In 2018, Wade was asked to anchor the documentary series Mighty Rivers on Animal Planet.
In this series, he analyzes the disappearance of freshwater giants from some of the most famous rivers in the world. In 2019, Wade will move on to the documentary series Dark Waters on Animal Planet, which investigated mysterious sightings of mythical monsters all across the world. In the year 2020, he launched a new television series called Mysteries of the Deep. In it, he investigates a variety of mysteries that take place underwater, such as the Loch Ness Monster and the Bermuda Triangle.
