Bio

Jennifer Saunders was born in Sleaford, Lincolnshire, on July 6, 1958, to Jane, a biology teacher, and Robert Thomas Saunders, an RAF pilot. She met her comedic partner Dawn French at Central School of Speech and Drama. As with many innovative projects in the early 1980s, “She began her career as a comedienne/actress/writer with Dawn French at “The Comedy Stomp.” Dawn French’s comedy partner Ella Edmondson, Beattie Edmondson, and Freya Edmondson are her three daughters from her marriage to Adrian Edmondson. On Absolutely Fabulous (1992), her character’s name, Edina Monsoon, is a play on the name “Eddie Monsoon,” which is a play on her husband, Adrian Edmondson’s surname, which he has used as a character name in comic performances.

In 2001, it was discovered that she and her collaborator Dawn French turned down Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) honours “for services to comic drama.” [December 3, 2003] For her role as the evil Fairy Godmother in Shrek 2 (2004), she received a People’s Choice Award for “Favorite Movie Villain” (January 2005) “Jennifer” (from the album “Sweet Dreams Are Made of This”) and “Adrian” (from the album “Be Yourself Tonight”) by The Eurythmics are dedicated to her and her husband. In 2007, he gave Seth Lakeman the Folk Singer Of The Year award at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards. She hired a voice coach to assist her in singing the Fairy Godmother’s opening number in Shrek 2. (2004). Her vocal part in Shrek 2 (2004) was recorded in England while she was in the middle of filming another season of Absolutely Fabulous (1992). In Shrek 2, she did all of her own singing (2004).

Following The Comic Strip, she appeared in episodes of The Young Ones (1982), Girls on Top (1985), and Happy Families (1986). (1985). Following that, she and Dawn French created their own TV programme, French and Saunders (1987), which was a huge hit due to the duo’s outstanding writing, brilliant acting abilities, and funny spoofs of world famous blockbusters and bands. The audience had the pleasure of viewing a sketch about an uptight daughter and a crazy, neurotic mother in one of the episodes of “French and Saunders,” which became a comedy classic sitcom. When the BBC urged Saunders to create something more, she couldn’t think of anything, so she decided to expand on that sketch, making it more outlandish and hence funnier – and thus Absolutely Fabulous (1992) was born. Is now in remission after discreetly battling Breast Cancer since October 2009. [July 2010]

Has two grandchildren, Fred (born August 27, 2012) and Albert (born February 6, 2014), through daughter Ella Edmondson. Despite the fact that she played Julia Sawalha’s mother in Absolutely Fabulous (1992), Saunders is just ten years her senioI don’t have time in my life to accomplish all of the things I should be doing, like running and dieting and beautifying my house and getting some furniture. I did grieve a little when I wasn’t getting chemo anymore. I was used to sitting in the small chair and waiting for the nurse to perform it. It felt like you’d been doing that for a long time, which was comforting. I adore Scotland. I’m always pleased there. The whole R&B sexual videos thing irritates me. ‘Why do you have to do that?’ I wonder. ‘Rubbing your arse against some boy’s crotch.’ That makes no sense to me. And I don’t think it’s good for society.

They’ve become so much a part of us that if we dress up as them, we don’t need a screenplay. You can simply transform into them. You just get tense. They maintain it so tight since no one likes them, thus they can’t exist without each other. They help each other out. They accept their shortcomings and everything else. My daughters identified with something about the Spice Girls that made them feel better about being feminine. They actually began to believe that girls could achieve anything. They could be obese, slim, or anything they wanted to be. Males would find it much more difficult because men have such st When I was younger, like most girls, I was always concerned about this or that part of myself being too big. But when I look back at images of myself when I was younger, I see that I was slender and beautiful. I’m a total petrolhead.Perhaps by chance, Saunders had created one of the BBC’s most popular, humorous, and imaginative TV shows in history. Three seasons were produced before the show was placed on hold in 1995 until Saunders resumed writing and returned with a fourth series in 2001. She is also always up for a good cause; she has been doing “Comic Relief” with several of her comic pals since 1986. Jennifer Saunders, one of Britain’s most popular television personalities, will return to the small screen in 2003 with the fifth season of Absolutely Fabulous.

fast. I recall the first time my father told me that when you turn into a corner, you change down and put your foot right down on the way out. I’m a competitive driver. I write for women because it’s the only way I can put my experiences to good use. It’s great that people admire what I write, but I don’t want to go down the feminist rabbit hole. Madonna appeared more in command when she did sensual things, in my opinion. And it appeared to me that she was pushing boundaries. Today, it feels like it’s pandering to everything that’s wrong, which I don’t think is appropriate, especially for young girls. I enjoy the TV show, and making a poor movie means you’ve ruined it. As if we were creating a commercial. We were offered so many times, and I’d always say, “Look, this is the good thing, and you can’t compromise it,” since doing so would jeopardise the integrity of the characters

.There were a lot of things we didn’t cover that I’m hoping to address if we do some specials. One is to see more of Patsy’s home and life, which is absolutely the saddest thing. When you’re through chemotherapy, you have a lot of time on your hands. Well, I’d definitely stop performing… But even if we never created anything, I’d still sit in an office with Dawn and pretend to write. That’s something I’d miss. Well, I’m lucky because, you see, I’ll probably bounce back from this part. The Internet has a big influence on how certain males treat women. The truth is that you can be honest with your friends, but you can’t be honest with the wider public if you want to keep your friends. ‘The Rocky Horror Show’ [The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975)] was my first musical passion. Porsches are a joy to drive. Lacroix has been wonderful. He’s pretty kind. He gets the joke, which I think is a good thing. I’ve never had Botox. But I’d like everyone to believe I do. I’m my own harshest critic. I could teach the critics a thing or two about my shows. I used to bring someone with me to treatment so I could crack jokes. You’re always looking for anything ridiculous.

People seem to believe that your fame is somehow related to how much you are paid. I believe it is more difficult for women to break into comedy. I would recommend a small dosage of cancer to anyone. I recall seeing the first face-lift show that aired. I called everyone – are you watching? I’m keeping an eye on things. I arrived at the Kardashians a little late, and I’m still in awe. Who are these people? At home, I unwind by gardening or simply pottering around. I’d rather have been a fly on the wall than have to grin at people. I’d rather have been a waiter. I’ve just gone around and stared at folks. I believe that the concept of losing one’s hair is still a very powerful and emotive one. I wanted a boy child because I had this romantic notion that when a boy child is 16, he takes his mother out to supper. Commissioners are concerned with young people, which is ironic because they don’t watch television; only the elderly do. But I believe our sense of comedy is still the same now. But now we’ve established ground rules.

We’ve said we’re not going to perform any sequences with prosthetic make-up because when they take it off, half your face falls off. You have crushes on individuals. You must see them every day of that week. They’re a wonderful person, and they may be a man or a woman. No, sometimes we just have to take liberties since the idea was so wonderful. I wish we’d just assumed Patsy was a male. It would have been wonderful. I swore I’d never write a book. But I read Clare Balding’s, and it was incredibly intriguing, as well as well written, elegant, and not too revealing. I went to her book launch and met her editor, who said, “Why don’t you think about it?” You can do it as you want, based on your characters or yourself.’ I’m a no-show.

If someone brings me a truly bad dinner in a restaurant, I’ll tell them it’s wonderful and then never go back. I think that’s the greatest approach to accomplish it in general, rather than sitting and fighting and annoying your mind. Just pretend to enjoy it and then go. My job provides me with the attention I would otherwise seek. Just being myself in public or on TV is the worst horror in the world. I’m not good with confrontation. You know the fight or flight response? I’m flight. I just don’t want to argue.
