Teenage years are challenging. High school, awkward families, and puberty, of course, are all factors. The need to fit in is utterly crushing, consumes us, and may cause us to act in more than questionable ways. This is the situation in the forthcoming Netflix series Fakes. And, in a clip made public today, we witness just how far two teenagers would go to rule their high school before realising they’ve made a serious error. Along with Tabia Lau, Turko also acts as the showrunner for the series. Reality Distortion Field’s Simon Barry and Stephen Hegyes join the project as producers and executive producers. Lilly Burns and Tony Hernandez from Jax Media join Barry and Hegyes in the latter.
On September 2, 2022, Netflix will release the new drama series Fakes. The show centres on two adolescent girls who start a false ID company and the myriad issues resulting from their employment. On Friday, September 2, 2022, at 12 a.m. PT, Fakes is scheduled to premiere on Netflix. The show’s 10 episodes will all air for the first time on the same day. On August 10, 2022, Netflix published the series’ official trailer, giving viewers a glimpse into the turbulent lives of the two main protagonists. What starts off as creating two false identity cards so they can purchase booze develops into an enterprise that rises and collapses, according to the trailer, says Jennifer Tong. Even though Zoe believes anybody could manufacture the first two cards, she manages to produce them, dazzling Rebecca (Jennifer Tong).
They try them out at a shop only to have the plainly false address pointed out to them. They consider what they might do if they kept creating fakes as they flee, carrying their cards and drinks. All of this looks to come tumbling down when Tryst pursues them and demands $30,000 or 200 fakes as payment. Had they broken their pledge to give him 200? Did they confiscate the ones they gave him? He threatens them, throwing objects into a body of water, burning papers, and driving the girls into a spiral in the trailer. They are unsure as to whether they should ignore him or believe him when he claims to be able to harm them. It seems obvious that the police broke up their enterprise during a raid on a party at their penthouse, but it is unclear if he phoned the police or whether they just happened to follow them down in Ross Ulbricht fashion.
The two teenagers are characterised by The Wrap as “unreliable narrators vying for the final word.” Could this imply that a rift between the two contributes to their empire’s demise? Who can the audience trust to inform them of the truth if they are unreliable narrators? Is Tryst a trustworthy source for the information she provides? The two are shown breaching the fourth wall in the trailer. Could they be attempting to win the audience over with this? A brief sight of Zoe in prison is seen. Is the viewer, who serves as their jury, being told what transpired in the series? Fakes is going to be a crazy journey from beginning to end, that much is certain. The brains behind the enterprise are Emilija Baranac as Zoe Christensen and Jennifer Tong as Rebecca Li.
Baranac is well-known for playing Genevieve in the To All the Boys trilogy on Netflix. She also appeared in the Netflix feature There’s Someone Inside Your House and had a recurring part on Riverdale. Tong has appeared in The Lost Vlog of Ruby Real and Motherland: Fort Salem. Tryst, who the two teenagers tend to get into problems with, is portrayed by Richard Harmon. He has appeared in Bates Motel, Van Helsing, and Grave Encounters 2, but is most known for his role as John Murphy in The 100.
The logline, which refers to how strong the two teenagers become in their illegal operation, states that they “create one of the greatest phoney ID empires in North America.” Is it possible that Tryst has greater influence than them? Do the girls not understand how much their company has grown? Do they grow to a size where they can begin selling online and draw the attention of government organisations?
They approach Tryst, present him with their work, and he estimates he can move 200 or so cards for them. They are printing them for him, selling them to a range of customers, and earning a profit. They are making a lot of money with their new company since they purchase automobiles and a penthouse. They throw parties and dress fabulously, possibly only possible due of their recent financial success. Considering their age, everything is going well for them.
Emilija Baranac and Jennifer Tong play the primary characters in the dramedy programme, which also stars a large number of additional actors. Without further ado, you can just read on to learn more about the series, the narrative, and the Netflix release date of Fakes.
If the trailer is any indication, lovers of heist-focused shows like Inventing Anna, quirky start-up tales like WeCrashed, and YA productions like The Summer I Turned Pretty will like the new ten-episode series’ blend of teenage friendship and criminality. Watch the video below to get a preview of what to expect when the series debuts on Netflix on September 2.
Two childhood best friends struggling to get through the school year are Zoe Christensen and Rebecca Li, who are introduced in the trailer. The two relate with the audience their ascent to the top and their fall from grace via fourth wall-breaking asides. The two start scanning off false IDs for themselves and a number of their pals in a side business that first merely serves as a method to buy some alcohol for the weekend party. The two plunge into their new endeavour without comprehending the hazardous characters they would encounter along the road as it becomes clear that, should they expand their firm, they might be living the lifestyles of high rollers. When they discover that other people are also preparing to break down their doors, things start to become pretty heated up.
