Bio

Clyde Nyle Clyde Carson is the stage name of American rapper Kalin Carson Parrish, who was born on June 2, 1981. Carson is originally from Oakland, California, in the United States. He first came to public attention while performing with the hip-hop group The Team. After the band went on hiatus, he was the only member of the band to successfully transition into a solo career during that time. In 2006, he inked deals with the record label The Black Wall Street Records, owned by the rapper The Game, and Capitol Records. During his time under contract there, he issued the extended play titled Doin’ That. However, he was only signed to them for a short period of time before he made the decision to return to independently releasing songs through Moe Doe Entertainment. Following his return to that particular record company, he has now issued two extended plays under the titles Bass Rock and Playboy.

Additionally, he released the song “Slow Down,” which was subsequently included in the audio track for the computer game Grand Theft Auto V. On June 4, 2013, he disseminated the track “Pour Up” as the debut single from his upcoming extended play.  After some time, a new version of “Pour Up” was created, which had new verses rapped by The Game and Young Jeezy. After that, he would appear on albums by other rappers throughout the rest of 2013, such as The Game’s OKE: Operation Kill Everything, E-40’s The Block Brochure: Welcome to the Soil 6, and Ya Boy’s Rich Rocka. The music video for the song “Bring Em Out” from the EP was then made available for viewing on Carson’s YouTube channel on February 14, 2014.

Approximately at the same time, he made the pre-order for his third solo EP, titled Playboy, available on iTunes.  Playboy was released by Carson on March 4, 2014, under the aegis of Moe Doe Entertainment. It was formerly known as Playboy Short, after the stage name of the rapper Too Short.  The extended play featured production from DJ Mustard, League of Starz, Dez Dynamic, and Sho Nuff, as well as guest appearances by D-Lo, August Alsina, and Master P.  It was received with mostly favorable comments from reviewers. According to XXL’s Jameel Raeburn, “Although the lack of variation on Playboy EP may be the primary factor that turns off new listeners, the EP as a whole is packed to the brim with tracks that are effective in their delivery.

Playboy is a perfect accompaniment to Clyde’s own player antics and has helped Clyde carve out a distinct space for himself in the music industry with his regular party tunes.”  Playboy reached its highest position on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart in the United States at number 23.  After that, Carson was featured on the track “What the Business Is” by Master P, which was made available for purchase on April 4, 2014.  In 2014, Carson intends to first tour and then release the second installment of the S.T.S.A. series. He incorporates hyphy into his street-styled rap as well.

In the year 2001, Carson launched his career as a professional rap artist by selling copies of his debut mixtape, titled The Story Vol. 1, out of the trunk of his car. After sneaking backstage at a TRL show, he met producer Ty Fyffe, with whom he became good friends and eventually collaborated on a project. Soon after that, he and Ty Fyffe made the move to New York City, where they remained for nearly an entire year. There, he participated alongside Fyffe in recording sessions alongside rappers like Jay-Z and Cameron. This gave him a boost in self-assurance. During the discussion, Fyffe made this statement “It was important to me to move away from Oakland. During this time, they did not play any local music on the radio other than E-40.”

The next year, in 2002, Carson relocated back to California and, along with local Bay Area rappers Mayne Mannish and Kaz Kyzah, established the hip hop duo The Team. They had a project that was played on local radio after it was issued on a record label owned by a local legend named Keak da Sneak. Then, in late 2005, they released the singles “Just Go” and “Bottles Up” to promote their third studio album, World Premiere. This album reached its highest position on the US Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart at number 95, and it reached its highest position on the Billboard Top Independent Albums chart at number 50. This led to a rise in the group’s popularity, which continued into the early 2006 time period.  However, the record was delayed for an indeterminable amount of time, which diminished its impact.

In 2006, Carson was able to acquire a significant record label deal with Moedoe and Capitol Records with the assistance of the rapper known as The Game and his record label Black Wall Street Records. He stated,  “As a rapper, there’s no ceiling in L.A. [like there is in the Bay],” upon the announcement of his contract. In the time that followed, he went on tour with The Game.  On September 4, 2007, Carson released his debut retail EP titled Doin’ That. The track “Doin’ It” featuring Sean Kingston served as the promotional vehicle for this release.  Then, it was disclosed that plans had been made for Black Wall Street and Capitol to release their debut album, which would be titled Theater Music; however, the release would be delayed indefinitely.  “The timing just wasn’t right,” he said, explaining why the agreement didn’t go through. He also mentioned that the guy who signed him had left the label, and the studio head had passed away.

However, Carson would not be freed from the Capitol in a formal capacity until the year 2009. On July 21, 2009, under Moe Doe Entertainment, Carson published his second extended play titled “Bass Rock” in honor of the anniversary of his attainment of independence. It was made available for digital download as well as at select record stores after its release. During the month of December 2011, Carson and The Team got back together to record the song “Slow Down.” After then, on June 26, 2012, “Slow Down” was presented to the public for the first time as a single by Universal Music Group. After the song was released, a DJ by the name of J-12 came up with a dance that was designed specifically for the music. This dance motivated dozens of young people to post their own versions of the dance on YouTube. It reached its highest position on the US Billboard Rap Airplay chart at number 21, while it reached its highest position on the Rhythmic list at number 28.

Gucci Mane, E-40, The Game, and Dom Kennedy would be included on the remix instead of his teammates from The Team. The Team gave a performance of the song during the Hot 97 Summer Jam, capitalizing on the success of the tune.  After that, “Slow Down” would be included on the EP titled Hell of a Night, which was The Team’s reunion release. As things worked out, the song would also serve as the first single to be released on his second official mixtape titled S.T.S.A. . E-40, Iamsu!, Problem, and B-Legit all made cameos on the album S.T.S.A. as special guests. The Team member and contributor Sho Nuff was responsible for the entire production of it.  After the book was published, he immediately started working on the following book in his series.
