Christopher Brian Bridges, better known as Ludacris, was born in Champaign, Illinois, and reared there. His parents, Roberta Shields and Wayne Brian Bridges, are his biological parents. He began rapping when he was just nine years old. He started his education at Emerson Middle School and afterwards transferred to Oak Park and River Forest High School for his freshman year there.
