As a direct reaction to Weinstein’s statements, student demonstrations in late May 2017 caused disruptions in school life and called for a wide range of policy changes. The administrator in charge of the university refused to provide permission to the police to disperse the demonstrators. When Harvey Weinstein approached the university police for security, the officers responded by telling him they were unable to offer it and advising him to remain away from the campus. Because of this, he had to conduct his biology lecture in a park that was close.
