Brandon Routh was born on October 9, 1979. His parents, Ronald Wayne Routh, and Catherine LaVonne, were his parents. He was the third child out of a total of four in his family, and his parents also had three kids before he came around. His father was a builder in their family business. Brandon, who grew up in a somewhat unremarkable community, had never given much thought to the possibility of pursuing a career in acting. He had a deep-seated interest in performing ever since he was a young child. Later in life, he became interested in music and began his musical education by playing the trumpet and the piano. Soon after that, he made the decision that he, too, would one day write pieces of literary work.
Both the ‘Norwalk Theatre of Performing Arts’ and the ‘Norwalk High School’ were on his list of educational institutions that he attended in Norwalk. In the beginning, he tried his hand at acting. As a means of supplementing his income, he used his spare time to compete in a number of different sports and to provide musical performances at a number of different events. Brandon, a young man from Iowa, has had a lifelong obsession with comic books, and more specifically with ‘DC’ comics. He was a devoted follower of DC Comics’ Batman and Superman, who are both fictional superheroes. Both the “Batman” and the “Superman” costumes were common sights on him at Halloween parties and other celebrations.
After he graduated from high school, Brandon intended to devote his time entirely to writing. While continuing his work in the theater, he went to school at the made-up “University of Iowa” with the hopes of earning a degree in English literature. His contemporaries often observed that he looked a lot like Christopher Reeves, the actor who was most famous for playing “Superman” in the years before Brandon’s period. He was fortunate enough to land modeling gigs while he was still in school, which allowed him to pay for his own education at the university.
After finishing his first year of college, Brandon immediately packed his belongings and moved to New York City, which at the time was home to a flourishing theater industry. After a brief period of time had passed, he eventually arrived in the City of Angels. As soon as he arrived in Los Angeles, he was able to find modeling jobs with relative ease. In 1999, he was a featured performer in the music video for “What a Girl Wants” by Christina Aguilera. After a number of auditions in which he was unsuccessful, he was finally given a part on the television show “Odd Man Out.” The year after that, he was offered a recurrent part in the primetime serial opera “Undressed.” In the year 2000, he appeared as a guest on four different episodes.
Only one episode of ‘Gilmore Girls’ ever aired with him as a guest star, and it was back in 2001 when it happened. In the latter part of that year, he was cast in a recurring role on the daytime serial opera One Life to Live. He had the role of ‘Seth Anderson’ in the latter. As time went on, additional casting directors took notice of Brandon. After that, he began to land guest-starring roles on television shows such as “Will & Grace,” “Oliver Beene,” “Cold Case,” and “Awesometown.” During this time period, “Warner Bros.” wanted to revive “Superman,” a DC Comics hero who had previously enjoyed financial success at the box office.
Over the course of more than a decade, the production company endeavored to put the finishing touches on a new “Superman” movie but was ultimately unsuccessful. The most difficult aspect of making this movie was casting someone else in the title role of Superman after Christopher Reeve’s departure.
The director, Bryan Singer, contemplated casting a number of well-known actors in the role; however, he ultimately opted to go in a different direction and cast an unknown actor. Following his performance in the audition, Brandon was chosen. Later on, he clarified that one of the primary reasons he was hired was due to the fact that he looked a lot like Christopher Reeve. This film debuted in 2006 and has since been hailed as a masterpiece by critics all around the world. However, the general audience was unimpressed by the movie, and as a result, it was a commercial failure.
The underwhelming reception that “Superman Returns” received from moviegoers led to the cancellation of two sequels that had been in the works. Despite this, Brandon Routh’s name was already well-known by that point in time. His performance in ‘Superman Returns’ earned him a number of award nominations, all of which he went on to win. Brandon was a co-writer, co-star, and co-producer of the independent comedy-drama film Fling, which was released in 2008.
Soon after that, Brandon had a starring role in the crime drama Life Is Hot in Cracktown alongside a number of other actors. The performance that Brandon gave as an addict living on the streets and high on drugs was praised by critics. Later in his career, he had roles in films such as “Table for Three,” “Stuntmen,” and “Miss Nobody.” In the offbeat action comedy film Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, which was released in 2010, he further portrayed the character of Todd Ingram. The movie was met with acclaim from critics and was a financial success at the box office.
The horror comedy “Dylan Dog: Dead of Night,” which was published in 2011, had Brandon as the main character. It was one of the movies that was given the worst reviews in the history of American cinema and it was a financial failure. Brandon, who had only recently taken on a leading role for the first time in a very long time, was crushed when he found out that the movie was a flop. Even more recently, in the science-fiction box office smash “400 Days,” released in 2015, he played the starring role. Despite this, the movie was met with overwhelmingly negative reviews and a poor performance at the box office.
