Bill Burr Bio

William Frederick Burr was born on June 10, 1968, in Canton, Massachusetts, the son of nurse Linda Ann and dentist Robert Edmund Burr.  William Frederick Burr was the son of both of his parents. He has ancestors from both Germany and Ireland. He received his high school diploma in the year 1987. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in radio from Emerson College in Boston in 1993. One of his teachers around that time was the author David Foster Wallace. Prior to beginning his career in stand-up comedy, he worked in warehouses.

Later in his life, he said that he appreciated the freedom the job provided him with the following quote: “If my boss gave me a rough time, I could just get on a forklift and just, like, drive away.” On March 2, 1992, when Burr was 23 years old, he had his first stand-up comedy performance. In the year 1994, he relocated to New York City. He began to make appearances in a variety of programs doing standup comedy, including Showtime at the Apollo in the year 2000, Comedy Central Presents in the year 2003, Just for Laughs in the year 2004, One Night Stand in the year 2005, and Live at Gotham in the year 2006. In addition, he had roles in the films Two Guys and a Girl and Law & Order: Criminal Intent. In 2004, he rose to notoriety as a regular on the acclaimed sketch comedy series Chappelle’s Show, which was produced by Dave Chappelle and shown on Comedy Central.

Since May of 2007, Bill Burr has been recording a weekly podcast called Bill Burr’s Monday Morning Podcast. In these podcasts, he responds to listener queries and discusses topics such as his life, current affairs, going on tour, and sports. The podcast may be accessed on Burr’s website, as well as through Spotify, YouTube, and the All Things Comedy network, which he helped to establish in 2012. Along with having featured guests and chats with other comedians, he is sometimes joined on the show by his wife Nia. Burr provided the voice of Jason Michaels, a member of the motorcycle gang The Lost MC, in the “No Love Lost” mission of the video game Grand Theft Auto IV, which was released in 2008. The Lost and Damned, an extra pack for the game that was released in 2009, marked his return to the role.

Burr has also been a guest on a number of other comedians’ radio programs and podcasts, including Opie and Anthony, You Made It Weird with Pete Holmes, The Adam Carolla Show, The Joe Rogan Experience, WTF with Marc Maron, The Nerdist Podcast, The Adam Buxton Podcast, and Nobody Likes Onions, among others. Additionally, Burr appeared as Tom Green’s very first podcast guest. Why Do I Do This, Burr’s first one-hour stand-up special, was shot entirely in the city of New York. Let It Go is a stand-up special that was filmed by Bill Burr in San Francisco at The Fillmore, and it made its debut on Comedy Central on September 18, 2010. During the same year, Burr made an appearance as Detective Walsh in the comedy picture Date Night. In an episode of the podcast titled “Hollywood Babble-On” that aired on April 18, 2011, he served as a guest host with Ralph Garman.

In addition, he played the role of Patrick Kuby in the fourth and fifth seasons of the AMC show Breaking Bad, which aired from 2011 to 2013. You, People, Are All the Same, a later special, made its debut on Netflix in 2012 as an exclusive to the streaming service. As the first stand-up special to make its debut just on Netflix, Bill Burr’s You People Are All the Same was the first to do so. In the buddy police movie released in 2013, he portrayed the role of Mark Mullins. I’m Sorry You Feel That Way is the title of Burr’s fourth one-hour stand-up comedy special, which he shot in 2014 at the Tabernacle Theater in Atlanta, Georgia. The movie was filmed in black and white, which is unusual for comedic specials that air on current television.

The actual debut of All Things Comedy took place on October 1, 2012, and it initially included a roster of 11 podcasts. These included Burr’s own Monday Morning Podcast, The Long Shot Podcast hosted by Eddie Pepitone, and Skeptic Tank hosted by Ari Shaffir. By the year 2014, the network has over 50 podcasts and six dozen members altogether. Comedians Al Madrigal and Bill Burr were responsible for the launch of the network by uploading the first episode of “The Daily Show” to the All Things Comedy website. The fact that the network was originally conceived as an artist-owned cooperative is something that Madrigal and Burr highlight as a significant facet of the collective.

Believe in Yourself, which was performed by Sam Tripoli, Live at the Comedy Castle, which was performed by Brian Scolaro, and This Will Make an Excellent Horcrux, which was performed by Jackie Kashian were the three albums that were released in the months after the establishment of All Things Records in March of 2014. According to Madrigal, the network is a means of enhancing the representation of individuals from Latin American countries in the media. For example, the network offers podcasts in the Spanish language, such as “Leyendas Legendarias” and “El Dollop.” In addition to producing three stand-up comedy specials, All Things Comedy worked in collaboration with Comedy Central to create a documentary on Patrice O’Neal.

F Is for Family had its world debut on Netflix on December 18, 2015, and Burr provided the voice for the main character, Frank Murphy. This was the first original animated series that Netflix has ever produced. The program, which was an animated comedy that he produced and co-wrote, took inspiration from Burr’s stand-up routines as well as the absurdity of political correctness. The premiere of the fourth season of the show was streamed on Netflix on June 12th, 2020. Michael Price and Burr are both executive producers and writers for the series. Burr creates the scripts. Bill Burr: Walk Your Way Out is the title of Burr’s sixth one-hour special, which made its premiere on Netflix on January 31, 2017. He had a guest-starring role in the third episode of the second season of the HBO series Crashing, which was named “Bill Burr.”
