Ben Stein Bio

Benjamin Jeremy Stein is a well-known American author, lawyer, actor, comedian, and commentator on political and economic matters. He was born on November 25, 1944, in the United States. Before transitioning into the entertainment industry as an actor, comedian, and game show host, he began his professional life working as a copywriter for former United States presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford. On-screen, he is best recognized for his roles as the economics instructor in the film Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, the host of the game show Win Ben Stein’s Money, and the character Dr. Arthur Neuman in the films The Mask and Son of the Mask.

Stein also acted in the propaganda film Expelled, which was released in 2008 and promoted pseudoscientific intelligent design creationist claims of persecution. Stein co-wrote the film. Stein is the son of Herbert Stein, an economist, and writer who worked at the White House while President Nixon was in office. Stein himself is an economist. As a character actor, he is well-known for his monotonous and droning delivery. This is one of his trademarks. He is well-known in the comedy world for his deadpan style.

Stein’s mother, Mildred (née Fishman), was a homemaker, while his father, Herbert Stein, was a writer, economist, and presidential adviser. Stein was born in Washington, District of Columbia. He is Jewish, and the area of Woodside Forest in Silver Spring, Maryland, was his home while he was growing up. Stein and his classmate Carl Bernstein, who would go on to become a journalist, both graduated from Montgomery Blair High School in 1962. Goldie Hawn, who would go on to become an actress, graduated one year later in 1963.

When Sylvester Stallone was a student at Montgomery Hills Junior High School, he was one of his classmates. After that, he attended Columbia University’s Columbia College to earn his bachelor’s degree in economics. While there, he participated in both Alpha Delta Phi and the Philolexian Society. Stein attended Yale Law School after receiving his honors diploma from Columbia University in 1966. He later received his valedictorian degree from Yale in June of 1970. Before he started working as a trial lawyer for the Federal Trade Commission, he practiced law in New Haven, Connecticut, and Washington, District of Columbia, representing low-income clients.

Stein’s first experience in the classroom was as an adjunct professor at American University in Washington, District of Columbia, where he spoke on the topic of the political and social content of mass culture. After that, he became a professor at the University of California, Santa Cruz, where he lectured on the political and civil rights guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States. Stein was a professor at Pepperdine University, where he lectured on libel law as well as the United States Securities Law and its ethical considerations.

Between the years 1990 and 1997, he taught law and economics at Pepperdine University Law School. His specialty was business law. Stein is a frequent contributor to the conservative publications The American Spectator and Newsmax, where he writes columns. In addition, he has contributed articles to a wide variety of magazines, such as The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, New York Magazine, Penthouse, Los Angeles Magazine, and Barron’s Magazine.

He contributed an essay to the online version of Yahoo! Finance on a regular biweekly basis, with the publication date of his final piece being August 7, 2009. His collaborations with investment advisor Phil DeMuth have resulted in several best-selling publications, including “Yes, You Can Retire Comfortably,” “Can America Survive?” and “Yes, You Can Time the Market.” He released a collection of articles under the title The Real Stars in the year 2009.

Stein was let go from his position as a Sunday Business columnist at The New York Times in August 2009 due to a policy that forbids authors from engaging in advertising or making product endorsements. Stein had just lately been an advertising representative for the credit information business Freescore.com. According to a statement released by the Times, Stein had anticipated there would be no conflict of interest as long as he did not cover credit scoring in general or FreeScore.com itself in his column.

Stein had recently become an advertising spokesman for Freescore.com. The newspaper, on the other hand, came to the conclusion that it would be unethical for him to write for them while he was also engaged in advertising, and as a result, they decided to terminate his contract. Writing in The Spectator, Stein expresses his conviction that the real reasons for his firing were budget cuts at the Times, his criticism of Obama, and pressure from individuals who are critical of Expelled, who “bamboozled some of the high pooh-bahs at the Times into thinking there was a conflict of interest.” Stein believes that these three factors were the true reasons for his departure.

Stein started out in politics first as a lawyer and copywriter for former President Richard Nixon, and then later for former President Gerald Ford. On May 3, 1976, an article published in Time magazine posed the question of whether or not Stein had been Deep Throat all along. Stein’s response, which he provided over the course of the years, included not only a denial that he was Deep Throat but also an accusation that journalist Bob Woodward had fabricated the renowned secret source.

Stein was cited as saying, “Oh, I don’t think there was a Deep Throat. ” in the edition of the Philadelphia City Paper that was published between May 14 and May 21, 1998. That was an elaborate hoax. I believe there were a variety of sources, some of which were real and others of which were made up. After it was discovered that Mark Felt was Deep Throat, Stein argued that if Richard Nixon had not been forced to leave, he would have been able to stop the rise to power of the Khmer Rouge and prevent their atrocities. Stein criticized such activities of his, which ultimately led to his resignation, saying

If there is such a thing as karma, and if there is such a thing as justice in either this life or the next, then Mark Felt has bought himself the worst possible future of any man who lives on this earth. Ben Bradlee is in the third position, followed closely by Bob Woodward, who is in the second position. They conceived the plan for the greatest nightmare imaginable—genocide—out of their haughty conceit and scorn for others.
