Asia Kate Dillon was born on 15 November 1984. Kate Dillon is a filmmaker in addition to being an actress and author. She currently resides in New York City. With his recent selection as Taylor on Showtime’s Billions, Dillon made history by becoming the first non-binary gender-identifying actor to be cast in a leading role on a major television series. They play the role of Brandy Epps in both Orange Is the New Black and Billions, which is also available on Netflix.
Dillon, who spent his formative years in Ithaca, New York, went to school at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City and graduated from their Studio Program. Following that, they traveled back to Ithaca to complete the Meisner training that they had begun at The Actor’s Workshop of Ithaca. After he graduated, Dillon worked backstage as a teaching assistant and stage manager, in addition to being a member of the acting group that he had been a part of during his time in school.
In the film of the same name that was released in 2007, Dillon played the role of Rachel Corrie. The one-man performance that Dillon featured in received excellent reviews, with one reviewer describing Dillon as “simply fascinating.” In order to play over seven different characters, Dillon needed to learn over thirty different speeches.
After returning to New York, Dillon participated in an audition for a workshop of fifty new plays written by Tony Award-nominated and Academy Award-winning authors. The workshop was directed by Ed Sylvanus Iskandar and was held at The Flea Theatre in Manhattan. Dillon was finally chosen to act in the workshop. Following that, Iskandar chose me to play the lead part of Lucifer in the movie he was making, The Mysteries. After giving a performance in “The Mysteries,” Dillon traveled to Washington, DC, to participate in a production of “The Tempest” being put on by The Shakespeare Theatre Company.
The actor was able to land roles on the television shows Orange Is the New Black, Master of None, Younger, and Billions as a direct result of his remarkable performances. Good Men Wanted was staged at Dixon Place, which currently hosts the US, an evening of storytelling followed by a talkback that Dillon conceived, produced, and directs. Dillon portrayed Albert Cashier in the production, and he also directs the talkback. US shines a bright light on racism in the United States and helps take the #BlackLivesMatter conversation forward by using evidence from the past as well as evidence from the present in the form of text, audio, and video.
The fact that they have carefully considered the dog’s gender identity and are explaining it to a total stranger shouldn’t come as much of a surprise given that Dillon’s star turn came on an unlikely television series; Showtime’s aggressively macho financial drama Billions, in which Dillon plays intern savant Taylor Mason. Taylor tells their hedge fund boss employer that “my pronouns are they, theirs, and them,” a statement that may be ubiquitous in university lecture halls but is nearly never heard in boardrooms on Wall Street. Dillon plays “The Adjudicator,” a nonbinary adversary, in the third installment of the action film series based on the John Wick comic book series.
Because of the praise they’ve earned for playing nonbinary characters, Dillon has developed into something of a spokesperson for the nonbinary community. They have been called “outspoken” for publicly explaining the specifics of their gender identity to celebrities ranging from Ellen DeGeneres to Khloe Kardashian. They have been called “historic” for entering the Emmys race as a supporting actor. They have been called “groundbreaking” for convincing MTV to merge the “actor” and “actress” categories at their annual Movie & TV Awards. They have also been called “historic” for entering the Emmys race as a supporting actor. If Dillon is given the opportunity to speak for ten minutes and a microphone, the following are the subjects that he intends to discuss.
They spent their formative years in the rough and tumble city of Ithaca, New York, prior to setting out on a path to become Hollywood’s most prominent nonbinary empath. Dillon’s artist mother gave them the name Dillon after the English prog rock band Asia. After getting involved in school productions, Dillon decided to pursue acting as a career. They went to a small public alternative high school that was on the smaller side, the kind of school where students are encouraged to get to know their teachers on a personal level and where students are not required to acquire permission before utilizing the facilities.
Around this time, Dillon began publicly identifying as a member of the LGBTQ community, despite having been given the female gender at birth. They explained to me that they had always been curious about their gender from a young age, but that it was much more challenging for them to comprehend their sexual orientation. They tried coming out as lesbians as well as bisexuals, but neither of those identities felt like the appropriate fit for them. To this day, they identify as pansexual, characterizing themselves as “human being who is attracted to other humans.” Today, they call themselves pansexual.
Asia Kate Dillon went into a coffee shop in Prospect Park, Brooklyn, looking like an angel on her day off while she was there. Black liner around each of the eyes, a black shirt, black jeans, and black sneakers are my go-to looks.
