Anah Giovanna Puente was born on May 14, 1983, in the city of Mexico City, Mexico. Her parents, Enrique Puente, who is from Spain, and Tysha Portilla, who is from Mexico, are her parents. Marcelo Puente, who was born in 1978, is her elder sister, and Diana Puente, who was her father’s first wife, is her older half-sister from his previous marriage. Over the course of shooting Primer Amor, Anah struggled with an eating disorder. When she was at her heaviest, she weighed somewhere about 75 pounds (34 kg).
She checked herself into five different treatment centers and saw medical professionals and mental health professionals located all over the nation. She returned home from a vacation with her family and started to feel dizzy a day later. She was taken to the hospital, where doctors discovered that her heart had stopped beating for eight seconds. Since then, she has made a full recovery and has become an ardent champion for increasing awareness of eating disorders in Mexico.
In 2008, Anah, with the assistance of Televisa, launched an awareness campaign to combat eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia. During the investigation into Anah’s possible involvement in tax evasion that took place in 2006, the Mexican tax office placed temporary holds on four of her bank accounts as a preventative measure. After years of legal wrangling, Anah finally got access to her four bank accounts in 2008. These funds were split between Banamex and Scotiabank.
In the year 2007, a Barbie doll was produced that was fashioned by Anah, Dulce Maria, and Maite Perroni. She was recognized as one of the “50 Most Gorgeous Women in the World” by People en Espaol in the year 2010. Because of Anah’s deviated septum, doctors found out on March 11th, 2011 that her brain was suffering from oxygen deprivation as a consequence of the condition. It was established that this was the major source of a number of Anah’s issues, including a heart attack, and it was treated accordingly.
She had a treatment that was completed without any complications. On March 23, 2011, Anah was given the role of spokeswoman for Snickers in Latin American countries. The advertisement campaign was so offensive that the National Institute of Women and the National Council to Combat Discrimination both lodged formal complaints against it, claiming that it promoted discriminatory attitudes and behaviors against women. Anah defended the effort by saying that it had no malicious intent and was not intended to hurt anybody.
Effem Mexico, the company that owns Snickers, responded to the claims of sexism by denying them. But, before the advertising was shown, they polled women to find out how they felt about the content being presented to them. According to the findings of the Effem study, the vast majority of women questioned did not think the ad was discriminatory. During the Mi Delirio World Tour, Anah made an appearance on stage (2010).
The original production of “Obsession: Bodies That Scream” was shot in Latin America and featured testimonies from individuals who struggle with body dysmorphia and eating disorders. The original production of “Obsession: Bodies That Scream” was broadcast on September 18, 2011, by National Geographic. Anah shared the story of her recovery from anorexia after a struggle that lasted for five years.
On October 12, 2011, Anah was selected to represent the Non-Violence Project as a Global Ambassador for their “Imagine One Billion Faces for Peace” campaign. Ambassadors for the campaign include individuals such as Paul McCartney, Yoko Ono, and Ringo Starr. This campaign seeks to honor the life and legacy of the late John Lennon by fighting for nonviolence and peace on a worldwide scale.
At the Summer Olympics held in London in 2012, Anah and many other Global Ambassadors gave a performance for The Non-Violence Project at an event that was sponsored by Yoko Ono. She was named one of the Maxim Hot 100 for 2012, and the publication referred to her as a “Mexican beauty” who had “a genuine triple threat: she sings, acts, and tweets delightfully.” On July 16, 2013, Anah introduced a collection of nail polishes under the brand name “BE by Anah.”
The series consists of 25 different colors, each of which is given a name taken from one of her songs. Some of the names are “Rebelde,” “delirio,” “absurda,” “click,” “hipnótico,” and “Sálvame.” In April 2012, Anah started a relationship with Manuel Velasco Coello, the Governor of Chiapas. They tied the knot in a small, private religious ceremony on April 25, 2015, in San Cristóbal de las Casas, after becoming engaged the previous year in October 2014.
They are the parents of two boys, Manuel, who was born on January 17, 2017, in Tuxtla Gutierrez, Chiapas, and Emiliano, who will be born on February 2, 2020, in Mexico City. Chiquilladas was the first program that Anah ever hosted for her career in the entertainment industry. When this happened, she was just two years old. After that, she had roles in a few movies, such as Haba Una Vez Una Estrella and Nacidos para Morir, for which she was awarded the Ariel Award for Best Child Actress in 1989.
After then, she became a leading actress in a variety of telenovelas, such as Mujer, Casos de la Vida Real, Hora Marcada, Viva por Elena, La Telaraa, and Daniela’s Diary. In the film Primer Amor, which was released in 2001, Anah played the role of Jovanna Luna, who was fourteen years old. She appeared with Kuno Becker, Ana Layevska, and Mauricio Islas. The teen-focused soap opera consistently had some of the top ratings in its time slot during the whole of its run.
In 2002, she was given the role of Jessica in the film Clase 406, which also starred Alfonso Herrera, Dulce Mara, and Christian Chavez, all of whom would go on to establish RBD. She had a starring role in the Mexico version of the hit Argentine series Rebelde Way, which debuted in 2004, titled Rebelde. Felipe Colombo, the actor who played the lead role in the first iteration of Rebelde, appeared with Anah in the film Los Angeles Sin Paraso.
