Amanda Michelle Seyfried (born December 3, 1985, is an actress, model, and singer-songwriter from the United States of America. She began her career as a model at the age of 11 and began acting at the age of 15. Seyfried was born on December 3, 1985, in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Ann (née Sander), her mother, is an occupational therapist, and Jack Seyfried, her father, is a pharmacist. She is predominantly of German ancestry, with traces of English, Scots-Irish, and Welsh ancestry.

Jennifer Seyfried, her older sister, is a member of the Philadelphia organ-driven rock band Love City. Seyfried enrolled in the fall of 2003 at Fordham University but dropped out after being offered the role in Mean Girls.
