Alano Herberto Miller is a well-known American actor who was born in 1980. He is most well-known for his performance as Cato in the short-lived drama series Underground, which aired on WGN America. Miller spent his childhood in Orlando, Florida, in the United States of America. Miller’s ancestry can be traced back to Cuba, the Bahamas, and Jamaica. Miller went to high school at Daytona Beach, Florida, Seabreeze High School. While there, he was a lifeguard and participated in the sports of basketball and football. When Miller was a teenager, he had a hard time managing his weight and was self-conscious about his appearance.

Miller is a graduate of the SUNY Purchase Conservatory of Theater Arts and Film, where he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Miller attended Penn State University and received his Master of Fine Arts degree in the year 2008. Miller made his acting debut in the film All Wifed Out in the year 2012. Miller is well-known for his performance in the film Loving, which was released in 2016. Miller was considered for the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture category of the 48th NAACP Image Award, which was held in December 2016.

Miller calls Pasadena in Southern California his home at the moment. After dating for a total of three months, he tied the knot with fellow actor DeWanda Wise on June 26, 2009. Miller was said to be “the best of the supporting escapees” by Daniel Fienberg of The Hollywood Reporter, and Neil Genzlinger of The New York Times referred to his portrayal as “Fabulous.” The plot of “Underground” centers on a group of enslaved people who plot an audacious escape from a plantation in order to travel approximately 900 miles to freedom. As a result of his work in the role of Cato, he was included in The Hollywood Reporter’s Supporting Class of 2016.

Miller had a co-starring role in the film “Loving” by Focus Features, which also starred Joel Edgerton, Michael Shannon, Ruth Negga, and Nick Kroll in the same year. The film is based on the true tale of Richard (played by Edgerton) and Mildred (played by Negga) Loving and was directed by Jeff Nichols. Miller also had a role in the movie “Wish You Well” (2013), which was directed by Darnell Martin. He co-starred in the film with Ellen Burstyn, Josh Lucas, and Ned Bellamy.

He was selected as the winner of the National Foundation for the Advancement of the Arts Award out of 8,500 students from all over the country. Additionally, the Presidential Scholar Award was bestowed upon Miller.

Miller’s notable theatrical credits include the roles of ‘Malcolm King’ in Nathan Louis Jackson’s “Broke-ology” at Lincoln Center, ‘Cory’ in August Wilson’s “Fences,” and ‘G.H.’ in Paul Green and Richard Wright’s “Native Son.” The award-winning playwright Tarell Alvin McCraney was responsible for providing Alano with his first break in the theater industry. Miller played the role of ‘Marcus’ in all three installments of McCraney’s trilogy in 2009. These were titled “Marcus, or the Secret of Sweet,” “The Brothers Size,” and “In the Red and Brown Water.”
