On May 6, 1983, Adrianne Palicki entered the world. She was born in Toledo, Ohio. She was born to parents Nancy (French) and Jeffrey Palicki. Her mother’s family comes from England and Germany, while her father’s family is from Poland and Hungary. Both of her grandfathers’ families, on her father’s side, emigrated from Eastern Europe. Adrianne graduated from Whitmer High School.
At Whitmer High School, she debuted onstage as a sophomore. She had never appeared in front of an audience before. In high school, she excelled on the basketball court, the track, and even in the running for homecoming queen. She was a series regular for the first three seasons of the NBC drama series Friday Night Lights (2006). She has since starred or co-starred in such films as Legion (2010), Red Dawn (2012), and G.I. Joe: Retaliation (2014).
She was able to get a job making sandwiches at Togo’s upon her arrival in Los Angeles. She has starred in three separate productions that all include DC Comics’ Justice League. She portrayed a Kryptonian friend of Clark Kent/Superman in a 2001 episode of Smallville, a villain in the canceled “Aquaman” series, and Diana Prince/Wonder Woman in a 2011 pilot that was not picked up for a series.
All of these parts were in series that were eventually axed from television. Two years later, Gal Gadot landed the role of Diana Prince/Wonder Woman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) and subsequent DCEU live-action theatrical films. She was born to Jeffrey Palicki and his ex-wife Nancy (whose last name was French). Paternal grandfather Arthur Palicki was of Polish descent, while maternal grandmother Margaret Hunyon was of Hungarian descent.
Adrianne’s maternal grandma was named Margaret Hunyon. Adrianne’s mother comes from a family with roots in both England and Germany. Granddaughter of Louis Hunyor and Barbara or Bertha Olah (both of whom were also born in Hungary, Austria-Hungary), granddaughter of John Tresso (also of Hungary, Austria-Hungary) and granddaughter of Anna R. Katafias (of Ohio; her parents were Poliush) (b. Hungary, Austria-Hungary).
Granddaughter of Donald Carl French and Lola Mae Heck, on the maternal side. Donald Carl French was born to Carl Clarence French and Mildred Kathryn White, making him the great-grandson of James Carl French and Lillian Carson Bordine on his father’s side and of Ernest Benjamin White and Katherine C. Hagaman on his mother’s (daughter of Edward Godfrey Michel Heck and wife Wilhelmina “Minnie” Louisa Johanna Zimmerman).
Originally from Germany, Lola’s ancestors settled in the United States. Edward Heck was the son of German immigrants Christian Frederick “Christ” Heck, whose father was from Baden, and Caroline or Carolina “Carrie” Meyer, who was also of German descent and had parents from Baden, and the maternal granddaughter of German immigrants Albert Carl Christian Zimmerman and his wife Fredericka or Frederike Augusta Christina Zingleman or Zingelman.
The German ancestry of Edward Heck may be traced down to his father, Christian Frederick “Christ” Heck, whose father came from Baden. She moved to Los Angeles after finishing high school and got a job making sandwiches at a place called Togo’s. Palicki made her acting debut in the 2003 short film “Rewrite,” in which she had a supporting role. They both aired the same year, but the pilot for “The Robinsons: Lost in Space,” directed by John Woo, was never picked up for a full season.
In 2004, she appeared as a special guest in an episode of “Smallville.” She played the role of Nadia in the pilot episode of ‘Aquaman’ from 2006. This did not lead to a TV series adaptation. In 2006, Palicki was cast as ‘Tyra Collette’ on the NBC drama series ‘Friday Night Lights,’ which follows high school football (2006–2009). For the first three years that this popular comedy aired, she was a regular cast member.
Jessica Moore, the character she played, appears in four episodes of “Supernatural” (2005–2009). Palicki’s portrayal as Brianna in the 2006 TV series “South Beach” was notable. In the 2010 Fox season of “Lone Star,” she portrayed the character “Cat Thatcher.” She portrayed the title role in the 2011 pilot for “Wonder Woman,” but the program was not picked up for a full series run. In the 2014 TV series “About a Boy,” Palicki portrayed the role of Dr. Samantha Lake.
She also had a recurring role on “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” in the same year, as “Barbara “Bobbi” Morse.” Her character was given greater screen time in the second half of the season, and she lasted until the end of the third season. Palicki now portrays “Commander Kelly Grayson” on “The Orville,” a science fiction comedy-drama on television (2017–present).
Her performance in the series has garnered her nominations for a “Saturn Award.” In 2005’s “Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping,” in which she portrayed the role of “Whitney Addison,” Palicki made her cinematic debut. She’s been in many movies that received rave reviews. In Scott Stewart’s 2010 film Legion, a blend of fantasy, action, and horror, she plays the character of ‘Charlie.’
She played “Toni Walsh” in the military film “Red Dawn,” directed by Dan Bradley (2012). Palicki played the lead role of ‘Lady Jaye’ in the 2013 military science fiction/action film ‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation,’ which also starred Bruce Willis, DJ Cotrona, Dwayne Johnson, and Channing Tatum. It was directed by Jon M. Chu. As Ms. Perkins in the 2014 action film John Wick, she makes her acting debut.
She also had a starring part in the Canadian romantic comedy film Dr. Cabbie, released the same year. Palicki was featured in the Barack Obama election campaign music video for “We Are the Ones” (2008) by “will.i.am.” Palicki’s part was minor. She also had an appearance in the “Where’s the Love” music video by “The Black Eyed Peas” (2016). It came out in 2016. She is known for her voice acting roles in many episodes and TV specials of the animated series “Robot Chicken” and “Robot Chicken: Star Wars.”
