Rick Springfield was born on August 23, 1949. Norman James Springthorpe and Eileen Louise were his parents. He did stints with several groups before landing a permanent gig as a backup singer for the rock band Zoot. Richard Lewis Springthorpe, or Rick Springfield as he is most well known, is a famous Australian musician. The song “Jessie’s Girl,” from his fifth studio album “Working Class Dog,” earned him a Grammy for “Best Male Rock Vocal Performance.”

He has also found fame as a songwriter and writer in addition to his acting career. He was born in Guildford, Sydney, Australia, and saw the Beatles perform in Melbourne when he was a teenager, sparking his interest in music. At the age of twenty, he became a member of the band Zoot as a backup singer. His first solo album, titled “Beginnings,” was released a year after the band broke up. His fifth studio album, Working Class Dog, landed at number seven on the US Billboard 200, making it one of his most successful works. Also doing well was his album “Living in Oz,” which peaked at number nine on the Billboard Top 100.

He has done some acting in movies and TV shows. Hard to Hold was the film in which he made his first substantial screen appearance. Besides “Supernatural,” “True Detective,” and “Californication,” Springfield has been featured in a number of other popular television series. They returned to Australia and immediately started the band Wickety Wak. Phil Blackmore, on keyboards, and Dick Howard rounded out the group. Rick kept at it, penning and recording songs for his 1981 album Working Class Dog, from which “Jessie’s Girl” was born and went on to become a worldwide smash. For two weeks, the song topped the Billboard Hot 100 and the Augustalian Kent Music Report singles charts in the United States. Success hadn’t spoiled me yet, Springfield’s 1982 follow-up and success continued with 1984’s “Living in Oz”.

His acting credits include the 1996 film Hard to Hold and the 1994–1997 TV series High Tide. He also appeared in the 2015 film “Ricki and the Flash” and the HBO series “True Detective” in minor roles. He played Dr. Noah Drake on “General Hospital,” a daytime drama, from 1981 to 1983, from 2005 to 2008, and again in 2013 for the 50th anniversary. He portrayed a nefarious version of himself in the 2009 film “Californication,” and in 2010, he released the memoir “Late, Late at Night.” He played Pastor Charles in the 2017 episode “American Horror Story: Winter of Our Discontent.” His present gig is as a radio disc jockey, where he spins 80s dance music in the mornings.
