Marcelo was born on May 12, 1988.Marcelo Vieira da Silva Junior, better known simply as Marcelo, is a Brazilian professional footballer who currently plays for Real Madrid in Spain as well as the Brazil national team. He primarily plays on the left side of the defense, but he also has experience playing on the left flank.
At the age of 18, he was named to the Brasileiro Team of the Season after being named to the Brasileiro Team of the Season in 2006. Towards the close of the year, he completed a transfer to Real Madrid for a cost of $8 million. There, he became a legend at Real Madrid and won 20 trophies, including four UEFA Champions Leagues, being named to the Team of the Season three times, and four La Liga championships. In addition, he was elected to the Squad of the Season three times. His accolades include being selected for the FIFPro World XI five times, the UEFA Team of the Year three times, and the Team of the Season for La Liga in 2016.
In his first international match for Brazil, which took place in 2006 against Wales, Marcelo scored a goal. He was selected for the Olympic squad in 2008, and he ended up winning a bronze medal there. Four years later, in 2012, he was one of the three over-age players who represented Brazil at the Olympic Games, where the country finished in second place and took home a silver medal. Marcelo was a member of the Brazilian national team that competed in the 2013 Confederations Cup.
He started all five of Brazil’s matches, including the one in which they defeated Spain by a score of 3-0. His debut at the World Cup came in 2014 when he was a member of Brazil’s squad competing in the FIFA World Cup. He was selected for the tournament’s Dream Team, and Brazil advanced to the semifinals of the competition.
On May 2018, he was selected for the final squad that will compete in the 2018 FIFA World Cup, where he was once again selected for the Dream Team of the competition. He is one of the numerous Brazilians who got their start in the sports world by playing futsal at an early stage of their careers. As early as the age of 13, he had already begun his professional career with Fluminense in Rio de Janeiro.
He had second thoughts about playing the sport because he was unable to pay for the necessary equipment, but his club insisted that he keep playing for them because he was such an essential member of the team. Marcelo made the move to Real Madrid during the transfer window in January of 2007, with the intention of maybe succeeding Roberto Carlos as the legendary teammate who played for Brazil.
Since 2005, he was a player at Fluminense, where he played for a total of two seasons. Before arriving in the capital of Spain, he had a total of 30 matches under his belt, during which he scored 6 goals. Because of his outstanding play at the club, the national team decided to call him up.
He made his debut for his national team in 2006 against Wales, and he scored for his country in his very first game. Marcelo made his professional debut on January 7, 2007, coming off the bench in a loss against Deportivo La Corua by the score of 2-0. Marcelo made his Real Madrid debut on April 14, 2007, against Racing de Santander, in a game that Real Madrid ultimately lost by a score of 2-1. Fabio Capello was the coach for Real Madrid at the time.
As a result of his inability to build on the strong start he had with the club, he was relegated to the bench for the 2009 campaign. After that, Madrid manager Juande Ramos decided to play him on the left wing, and he proved his coach right by scoring a goal in Madrid’s 4–0 victory over Sporting de Gijón. After that, he scored four more goals for his team during that season.
Marcelo contributed the much-required variety and pace along the left wing of the pitch during the 2009-2010 season while playing under Manuel Pellegrini. Marcelo played regular football throughout the season. During the 2009–10 season, he led La Liga in assists and spoke about his desire to play left wing. This led to him reaching the top of the league’s assist lists.
Yet, it wasn’t until the 2010-2011 season that José Mourinho was able to bring out his best performance. Even though he was relegated to the defensive unit, he continued to garner praise from analysts and commentators for his play throughout the season. In the encounter against Olympique Lyonnais, he not only scored his first goal ever in the Champions League but he was also named Man of the Match. He was credited as the third-best player in La Liga behind Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi as a result of his performance, which earned him a starting position in the starting XI for UEFA.
After that, he went on to lead Real Madrid to victories in the FIFA Club World Cup as well as the UEFA Champions League in the seasons of 2014, 2016, and 2017. Since 2002, Marcelo has been a member of the Fluminense junior team, and he made his professional debut with the first team in 2005. He had two seasons in which he was very successful, winning the Campeonato Carioca and the Taca Rio in 2005.
Since making his move to Real Madrid in the winter transfer window of 2007 for a fee of € 6.5 million, he has become a well-known figure in the intervening decade. In 2006, Marcelo was selected for the Team of the Year in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, and he has been a member of the FIFA FIFPro World XI First or Second team every year since 2012.
During the 2014 tournament, he was a member of the FIFA World Cup Dream Team. In addition, he was included in the team of the season for La Liga in both 2011 and 2017. On the other hand, Marcelo is classified as Carlos in the same category. Marcelo, a left-back, was modeled after another Brazilian great who played the position. He also plays for Real Madrid, much like Roberto did previously. Roberto was a member of Real Madrid. Because of the similarities in their playing styles, I’m not going to compare them because Marcelo has already established a name for himself. The talent that Marcelo Vieira possesses is unparalleled.
