Lauren Ridloff was born on April 6, 1978. Lauren was born without the capacity to hear, so she learned to communicate through sign language while attending what is now the Holy Trinity School for the Deaf at Children of Peace Catholic School. Lauren got her start in acting while she was a student at the “Model Secondary School For Deaf” in Washington, District of Columbia. This experience kindled an interest in filmmaking in Lauren.
After completing her senior year of high school, Lauren enrolled in “Hunter College” in the city of New York to pursue a degree in primary education. Her long-term goal is to write books for young readers. After receiving her master’s degree in education from Manhattan College in 2005, Lauren started her career as a teacher by working with kindergarten students.
Lauren’s acting career got its start with the television series “Connie,” in which she portrayed a made-up persona. The “Tony Award” for best actress in a play went to Lauren because of her performance in the Broadway play “The Children of a Lesser God” as Sarah Norman. Since the year 2014, Lauren has been actively pursuing a profession in the acting industry. Lauren Stardom rose to prominence after starring in the superhero movie “Eternals,” which was adapted from comic books published by Marvel.
According to the information provided by our sources, she was born unable to hear to a Mexican-American father named Hugo who worked as a counselor at the University of Chicago, and an African-American mother, the identity of which will be discussed in more detail in the following paragraphs. Doug Ridolff is a well-known deaf actor who has been in a number of films, including “A Quiet Place” and “The First Deaf Superheroes.” Lauren is married to Doug Ridolff. The actress prefers to keep a low profile, therefore the identities of her children are likely unknown, despite the fact that she and her partner are parents to two children together.
Lauren and her sister were raised in Chicago by their parents, Lauren’s mother being of African-American descent and Hugo being of Mexican-American descent. Both of Lauren’s parents were born with hearing loss. Her mother was an artist, while her father worked as a counselor at the University of Illinois at Chicago. As a result, she has a distinct point of view.
When Lauren was just two years old, her parents made the heartbreaking discovery that she was deaf. Shortly after this, she began taking classes in sign language. She received her elementary education at a Catholic institution where hearing children were also enrolled, and she achieved academic success on par with them. Later on, when Lauren was attending Model Secondary School for the Deaf, she uncovered her love for performing on stage and made her acting debut in “The Wiz.” She already had a passion for dance and was a cheerleader, but Lauren went on to make history as the first deaf American to participate worldwide as a cheerleader.
Following her graduation from high school in 1996, Lauren enrolled at California State University, Northridge, where she pursued degrees in creative writing and hip-hop dance and became a member of a performing group for the deaf. In May of 2000, shortly after completing her Bachelor of Arts degree in English, Lauren participated in and ultimately won the Miss Deaf America pageant that was put on by the National Council of the Deaf. She continued her education at Hunter College and received a Master of Arts in Teaching degree in 2005. Her debut role in a film was in the musical drama “If You Could Hear My Own Tune,” which was directed by Jade Bryan and starred Sylvie Marc-Charles-Weir, Omar Jaslin, and Evan Armbrister. It was released in 2011. The plot of the movie centers on two artists who develop feelings for a deaf woman who has unusual taste in music.
Six years later, in 2012, she made her film debut in “Wonderstruck,” a mystery adventure thriller directed by Todd Haynes. The film also starred Oakes Fegley, Julianne Moore, and Michelle Williams, and she played the supporting role of Pearl, The Maid. Throughout the course of the narrative, two young individuals are followed: Rose, who is searching for an unknown actress in 1927, and Ben, who runs away from home in 1977 in search of his father. Both of these young people are in search of their respective fathers.
The movie was nominated for a total of 34 awards, however, it ended up winning only one of them. In the 2019 short drama “See Through,” Lauren portrayed the part of Jessie. Prior to that, in 2017, she appeared in the action movie “Sign Gene: The First Deaf Superheroes,” which was written and produced by Emilio Insolera and in which she also starred alongside Benjamin Bahan and Hiroshi Vava.
The most recent musical drama film to feature Lauren was “Sound of Metal,” which premiered in 2019 and also starred Riz Ahmed, Olivia Cooke, and Paul Raci. Darius Marder is responsible for both the script and the direction of the picture. The movie, which is about a drummer who starts to lose his hearing, has already won 48 accolades and has been nominated for 109 more, including the Golden Globe. Both the upcoming drama “The Magnificent Meyersons” and the action-adventure picture “Eternals,” which are both slated for release in 2021 and 2022, respectively, feature her in new roles.
The television show that was produced by Julie Plec and stars Danielle Rose Russell, Aria Shahghasemi, and Quincy Fouse is continuing to air episodes. The main character is Hope Mikaelson, who possesses characteristics of both a werewolf and a vampire.
