Lamar Odom Bio

Lamar Odom was born on November 6, 1979. After his mother died at age 12 from colon cancer, he lived with his maternal grandmother, Mildred Mercer. His dad used to shoot up heroin.

As a result of his academic struggles, Odom was moved to a new school. Before attending the defunct St. Thomas Aquinas High School in New Britain, Connecticut, he attended “Christ The King Regional High School” in Middle Village, Queens, and “Redemption Christian Academy” in Troy.

As a young man, he played basketball with future Lakers teammates Elton Brand, Ron Artest, and Kobe Bryant, whom he had previously trained with Jerry DeGregorio. He decided he wasn’t ready to declare for the NBA draft, so he enrolled at the “University of Nevada” in Las Vegas. Many scandals, including accusations of soliciting prostitutes, led to his release from the institution in July 1997.

At the same time, he enrolled at the fictional “University of Rhode Island,” where he spent two academic terms and a summer without participating in any athletics. Then he praised the Rams’ A-10 Tournament run, in which they won an impressive number of games while averaging 17.6 points per contest. American basketball player Lamar Joseph Odom played the vast majority of his career for the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played a significant role in the team’s 2009 and 2010 “NBA Championship” triumphs. He had a shaky upbringing with his grandmother, but his skills on the court never wavered. Parade magazine recognized him as the best high school athlete in the country.

He was named to the all-conference team during his lone season of competition in the “Atlantic 10 Conference” during his collegiate career. He debuted with the Los Angeles Clippers in the NBA and was named to the NBA’s Rookie All-Rookie Team. He has also played for the Miami Heat, the Dallas Mavericks, and the Spanish team Laboral Kutxa Baskonia over the course of his career. After marrying Khloé Kardashian, a reality TV star, he became more well-known. In addition, he has had an appearance on “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.” His lifelong struggles with substance misuse have severely impacted both his personal and professional spheres.

He had some success while playing for the squad, although he was disqualified twice for doping violations. The second time we met, he admitted to using pot. In 2003, he was a restricted free agent until he received an offer from the Miami Heat.

He was a starting forward for the Miami Heat in the 2003–04 NBA season. He led the Heat to the fourth seed in the playoffs, where he averaged 13.1 points per game and 9.7 rebounds. The ‘Los Angeles Lakers’ acquired Odom, Caron Butler, and Brian Grant at the end of the season in exchange for Shaquille O’Neal.

He averaged a respectable 15.2 points per game in his first season with the Lakers despite ending the year on injured reserve with a left soldier ailment. In the three years that followed, he consistently produced, culminating in a pair of triple-doubles in April 2006 against the Golden State Warriors and Portland Trail Blazers. In addition, he was instrumental in the Lakers’ run to the 2008 NBA Finals.

After showing up to training camp unprepared for the 2008–09 season, he spent most of the year on the bench. He had some doubts at first, but he eventually settled into his new role as the Lakers’ sixth man. He turned down a postseason offer from Miami to stay with the Lakers instead.

His finest years ever were 2008–09 and 2009–10, which he played in consecutively. His contributions of 11.3 and 10.8 points per game in the 2008–09 and 2009–10 NBA seasons were crucial to the Lakers’ back-to-back championship runs. After finishing his second season with the Lakers, he was moved to the “Dallas Mavericks.”

Odom had a negative time with the Mavericks. In 2012–13, he played again for the Clippers but only contributed 4.0 ppg on average. In 2014, he played his final two professional games for the team Laboral Kutxa Baskonia in the Spanish League. After returning to the United States, he signed with the “New York Knicks,” although he never played for the team.

He signed for the Philippine team Mighty Sports in the latter half of 2018. The “Mighty Sports” team competes in a number of national competitions. In 2004, he won a bronze medal at the “Summer Olympics,” and in 2010, he won gold at the “FIBA World Championships,” while competing for his country.

In addition, Odom was a regular on “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” an E! reality show. On April 10, 2011, he and his then-wife Khloé starred in their own reality program titled “Khloé & Lamar.” After only two seasons, the show was canceled. Odom claimed that he was exhausted from the frequent filming.

He made the inaugural team of the Atlantic 10 Conference and was named its “Rookie of the Year” in 1999. In 2000, he was named to the “NBA All-Rookie First Team.” For the 2010–11 NBA season, he was named the league’s “Sixth Man of the Year.”

In high school, Lamar Odom crossed paths with Liza Morales, a fashion designer. They started dating in college and were together until the beginning of his NBA career before parting up in 2007. Destiny is their daughter, and Lamar Jr. is their son. Their third child, Jayden, was killed at six and a half months old by sudden infant death syndrome.

On August 30th, 2013, he was detained for drunk driving. He entered a plea of no contest and was sentenced to three months of alcohol abuse treatment and 36 months of probation. The sum of $1,814 was also requested from him. Odom has disputed the allegations that he is a drug addict.

Odom and Khloe Kardashian tied the knot in a secluded Beverly Hills home on September 27, 2009, after dating for a month. On December 13th, 2013, she filed for divorce and the return of her maiden name. All necessary documentation was finalized by July 2015. Odom was found unconscious in a brothel called “Love Ranch” in Crystal, Nevada, just days before his divorce was set to be finalized. He slipped into a coma and had to have life support activated. As her estranged husband became ill, Kim Kardashian put the divorce on hold and stayed with him. On May 26, 2016, she filed for divorce once more, and on December 17, 2016, the divorce was finalized.
