Kerry Katona Bio

Katona was born in the town of Warrington, Cheshire. Katona’s maternal grandpa landed in London with his family after fleeing Budapest during WWII. She was adopted and reared by four different sets of foster parents as a youngster, and she attended eight different schools during her life. She dropped out of school when she was sixteen to pursue a career as a lap dancer, and later joined a dancing ensemble that toured Europe. Katona is the mother of five children born to her three marriages.

She tied the knot with former Westlife singer Brian McFadden on January 5, 2002, in the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Rathfeigh, County Meath, Ireland, in a religious ceremony. They are the parents of two girls. It was in September 2004 when McFadden filed for divorce from Katona. They were apart for two years before their divorce was finally finalized in December 2006. Katona tied the knot with taxi driver Mark Croft on February 14, 2007. During the course of her 2012 autobiography, Still Standing: The Autobiography, Katona remembers meeting Croft in September 2005 while he was selling cocaine to her mother, Sue.

Katona had just recently returned to Warrington after completing a six-week treatment program in Arizona for depression, alcoholism, and drug addiction. They announced their separation in 2009 but then reconciled before divorcing in 2011. On the 14th of September, Katona tied the knot with former rugby league player George Kay (Warrington Wolves A-Team). They have one daughter (b.2014). The couple announced their separation on October 7, 2015, after he was accused of assaulting her at their house in Crowborough and was subsequently arrested by police.

As a result of a lack of evidence, Kay was charged with assault by beating and possession of a prohibited weapon, but the charges were ultimately withdrawn against her. Kay, like Katona, struggled with mental health concerns, and she died on July 5, 2019, as a result of an accidental overdose. Katona, like her mother Sue before her, was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2005.

Since then, she has worked to raise awareness about mental health issues. Katona suffers from dyslexia as well as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Katona rose to national prominence as a member of Atomic Kitten, an all-female pop trio founded by Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark frontman Andy McCluskey when she was 18 years old. The band’s other founding members were Natasha Hamilton and Liz McClarnon. “Right Now,” the band’s debut single, was released in late November 1999 and reached number 10 on the UK Singles Chart the following month.

Due to their first success, Atomic Kitten embarked on an Asian tour, where they achieved their first number one hit with the single “Cradle.” “I Want Your Love” and “Follow Me” were added to the album’s tracklist after it was first released in Japan on March 16, 2000. The album was then released in the United Kingdom on October 23, 2000, following the release of two additional singles, “I Want Your Love” and “Follow Me,” and with a slightly different tracklist than the Japanese version. In addition, the ensemble produced a cover version of “The Locomotion” for the film Thomas and the Magic Railroad, which was released in 2000.

Right Now was a commercial failure at its initial release, reaching only the 39th position on the UK album chart. For a long time, Atomic Kitten’s record label, Innocent Records, had no ambitions to expand into the international market, and they were even considering removing the band due to their lack of commercial success in their home country. Although the group was denied permission to release another single from the album, the record company was convinced to grant them permission to do so.

With that single, “Whole Again,” they scored their first number one hit in the United Kingdom, where it remained on top for a record-breaking four weeks. As a result of this success, “Whole Again” was published worldwide and peaked at number one in 18 other countries, including Germany and New Zealand, where it remained at the top for six weeks. Kerry Katona was originally included in the song and video for “Whole Again,” but she quit the group just days before the single’s release due to her pregnancy and did not appear in the final version. Former Precious singer Jenny Frost replaced Katona in the group, and the single was re-recorded as a result of the change.

She entered the television industry after marrying Brian McFadden and adopting his surname, appearing on and presenting a variety of light-entertainment shows such as Britain’s Sexiest…, Loose Women, and eliminate. In 2001, she made an appearance on Lily Savage’s Blankety Blank.  In July of that year, she and McFadden featured as judges on the RTÉ talent program You’re a Star, which was used to choose the Republic of Ireland’s entry for the Eurovision Song Contest in Las Vegas.

After her divorce from McFadden was finalized in September 2004, she reverted to her maiden name. In July 2005, Katona was featured in the ITV series My Fair Kerry, in which she was given airs and graces to help her transition from ladette to lady status. This was also the year in which she starred in an Irish drama called Showbands. She attempted to be a competitor on Celebrity Big Brother 2010 but was turned down by the show’s producers after failing the psychiatric exams required.

Kerry Coming Clean, a reality television show hosted by Katona, premiered on June 24, 2010. The actress Katona appeared in the sixth season of Dancing on Ice, where she danced with English ice skater Daniel Whiston. They were eliminated in the fifth week of the competition after losing a skate-off to Jeff Brazier and partner Isabelle Gauthier. Katona was the first housemate to enter the Celebrity Big Brother house for the 2011 season of the show, joining Amy Childs, Tara Reid, and other celebrities in the competition.

On the 8th of September, 2011, she has voted the runner-up in the final, behind Paddy Doherty. Atomic Kitten’s reunion was confirmed by Hamilton in March 2012, and the band will embark on a summer tour that will include a performance at the Diamond Jubilee Concert. Hamilton also revealed that the group was in talks to star in their own reality television program in connection with the reunion, which would build on the success of the Steps reunion and reality show from 2011.

During a recent interview, Hamilton expressed her desire that former member Kerry Katona, who left the trio in 2001 before they achieved chart success, would join them on stage for a performance. Because of the fight between Katona and Frost, the reunion was later called off by all three members of the group. Katona performed at Birmingham’s Gay Pride festival in June 2012, singing some of her Atomic Kitten classics, including Whole Again and Right Now, among others.

Katona performed for the first time in almost 11 years, marking a significant milestone. It was announced on 18 October that the founding members of Atomic Kitten would return for an ITV2 series alongside other pop groups from their era, including B*Witched, Liberty X, and 911. The series will air on ITV2 in the United Kingdom. Katona made an appearance on the sixth season of the E4 reality series Celebs Go Dating in 2019. After Jenny Frost left Atomic Kitten in November 2012, Katona stated that she has returned to the band as Jenny Frost’s replacement.

Katona was previously represented by publicist Max Clifford, with whom she split amicably in October 2008 by mutual agreement. She has endorsement arrangements with Iceland and Asda supermarkets, among other companies. Iceland terminated Katona’s £290,000 contract on the 17th of August in the year 2009. Following the publication of images in the News of the World tabloid, reportedly showing Katona doing cocaine in the bathroom of her house, the firm announced that it would be “difficult” to continue including Katona in its advertising campaigns going forward.

In addition to two autobiographies, Kerry Katona: Too Much, Too Young, and Still Standing: The Autobiography, a self-help book, Survive the Worst and Aim for the Best: How to Get Your Life Back on Track, as well as three novels, Tough Love, The Footballer’s Wife, and Glamour Girl, Katona has written a number of nonfiction works, including a memoir, Kerry Katona: Too Much, Too Young, All of her books have been ghostwritten by anonymous authors. Before leaving the magazine in 2008, she was a regular contributor to OK! After then, until December 2012, it will be repeated. Katona returned to the Loose Women panel on May 11, 2016, after a five-year absence.

She had previously left the show in 2004. Kate is a patron of The Shannon Bradshaw Trust, a Warrington-based charity that assists children and their families who are suffering from life-threatening illnesses or injuries. In March 2016, Katona created a new online bingo service, Bingo With Kerry, which is still active today. She competed in the third season of Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, which premiered on Fox on August 29, 2021, and ran for a total of six weeks. Taking hostage their £1.5 million home in Wilmslow, Cheshire, on the 15th of July, 2007, Katona, Croft, and their little daughter Heidi were taken, hostage.

According to them, three guys pushed their way into their home, with one of them keeping Katona at knifepoint while the other two forced Croft to show them where the family’s belongings were stashed. Nobody was hurt physically, but the men fled with a blue BMW and other goods with an estimated total value of between £100,000 and £150,000, depending on who you ask. On the 19th of July, 2007, police discovered the intact automobile on Reeves Road in Chorlton-cum-Hardy, Manchester, which was 10 miles (16 kilometers) away.

Katona was admitted to the Priory Hospital on the same day she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and was treated there. Despite the fact that she had been suffering from the disorder for some time, her publicist, Max Clifford, claimed that the trauma had exacerbated her symptoms. Katona was declared bankrupt by the High Court in London on August 21, 2008, after failing to pay the final £82,000 of a tax debt totaling £417,000.

The company had failed to pay the final £82,000 of the tax bill. Brighton Magistrates’ Court sentenced Katona to pay a £500 fine on the 8th of May, 2019, after finding that one of her children’s school attendance rates had slipped below the required 50 percent mark in 2018. Her attorney contended that Katona did not have access to childcare and was therefore required to bring the child to work with her. Katona had previously entered a “not guilty” plea and stated that she would be representing herself in court during the prior session.
