Kagiso Rabada is a South African international cricketer who competes in all forms of the game. He was born on May 25, 1995, and he now resides in South Africa. He bowls quite quickly with his right arm. First making his debut for his country in limited-overs cricket in November 2014, he moved on to test cricket the following year, making his debut in November 2015.
At the age of 22, he dominated the ICC One-Day International bowling rankings as well as the ICC Test bowler rankings by the time January 2018 rolled around. He broke the record for the youngest bowler to capture 150 wickets in Tests in July of 2018 when he did it at the age of 23 years and 50 days. Rabada made history in the sport of cricket when, in July of 2016, he became the first player to ever win six trophies at Cricket South Africa’s (CSA) annual dinner, including the title of Cricketer of the Year.
At the CSA’s annual banquet in June of 2018, he once again took home all six of the accolades available, including Cricketer of the Year, Test Cricketer of the Year, and ODI Cricketer of the Year. He was given the title of “Best Young Player in the World” by Wisden in August 2018. In each of the three different types of cricket, he has scored a hat trick. In 2014, the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup will be held in South Africa, and Rabada has been selected to play for South Africa’s Under-19 team.
He was the finest bowler for the South African team that ultimately came out on top, taking the second most wickets in the competition (14) while maintaining an economy rate of 3.10. Additionally, he achieved the best numbers in the competition (6/25 versus Australia A), which he did. Because of this, people began to refer to him as “the competition’s most fearsome and lightning-quick bowler.”
As a result of Rabada’s strong play at the Under-19 World Cup, the Lions have decided to include him in their lineup for the last two games of the Sunfoil Series. In these two matches, he was responsible for seven wickets and 186 runs. Rabada broke the record for most wickets taken in a match with 14 in February 2015 while he was playing for the Lions against the Dolphins. He collected 9 for 33 in the second innings.
The franchise era of South African cricket has seen no better stats than his 14 wickets for 105 runs. Rabada passed up the possibility of signing an IPL contract to acquire experience playing cricket in English conditions, and it was revealed in February 2016 that he had signed a short-term agreement to play county cricket for Kent County Cricket Club in June and July of the English domestic season.
During his time in England, he participated in two County Championship matches and six Twenty Twenty matches on behalf of the county. In October of 2018, he was included in the Jozi Stars team that will compete in the first Twenty20 event for the Mzansi Super League. It was announced in September 2019 that he would be part of the Jozi Stars side that would compete in the 2019 Mzansi Super League competition.
In April of 2021, he was given a spot on the Gauteng team for the next cricket season in South Africa, which would take place in 2021–2022. Rabada was purchased by the Delhi Daredevils for the sum of INR 50 million in February 2017, in preparation for the 2017 Indian Premier League season. In January 2018, he was purchased once again by Delhi (Delhi Capitals) at the auction for the 2018 Indian Premier League. However, he was subsequently ruled out of participation in the tournament owing to a back ailment.
His contract with Delhi Capitals was renewed in advance of the 2019 Indian Premier League season. Before departing for national service, he had played a total of twelve matches in the league stage. He finished the season with 25 wickets, which made him the top wicket-taker for DC and the overall second-most wicket-taker for the whole season. After the 2012 IPL season, DC finally earned a spot in the postseason for the first time since then.
In the 2020 season of the Indian Premier League, he participated in 17 matches and took 30 wickets, making him the player with the most wickets taken throughout the season. Rabada was an important member of his team’s championship campaigns in each of those seasons. Rabada was acquired by the Punjab Kings in the mega auction for the 2022 Indian Premier League for the price of 9.25 crore (about $1.2 million).
In April of 2023, he became the quickest bowler, in terms of the number of matches, to reach the milestone in the tournament by taking his 100th IPL wicket. This achievement occurred during his 64th play in the competition. In 2016, Rabada achieved his first ten-wicket haul in a Test match against England in Centurion, which was the contest’s fourth installment. During the match, he collected a total of 13 wickets, including two separate hauls of five wickets, and had his best innings bowling stats of 7/112 during England’s first innings.
In the match against Sri Lanka that took place in Cape Town in 2017, he took 10 wickets. when an argument with Ben Stokes during the first Test of South Africa’s tour of England in 2017, which took place at Lord’s, Rabada was banned for the second Test, which took place at Trent Bridge. The incident occurred when Rabada used “inappropriate language” after dismissing Stokes on the opening day of the match.
