Jimmy Pardo Bio

Mr. James Ronald Pardo Jr. is a stand-up comedian, actor, and presenter of the comedy podcast Never Not Funny. He is from the United States of America. Beginning with the beginning of the show and continuing until the middle of 2015, he was a cast member and warm-up comic for the Conan O’Brien program. After that, he was offered a general development agreement by O’Brien’s production firm. On the Science Channel, he most recently served as the presenter of the game program Race to Escape.

It was in Chicago, Illinois, that Pardo was born. He spent his first eight years of life on the south side of the city, and then he finally relocated to the south suburbs of Chicago. In Hometown, Illinois, he resided during his elementary school years. His family relocated to Oak Forest, Illinois, in 1980, and he completed his high school education at Oak Forest High School. After moving to Pasadena, California, in 1986, he enrolled at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts (’87) to further his education.

To pursue a career in stand-up comedy, he made his way back to Chicago after attending for one year. Late in the year 1988, Pardo began his career as a performer by participating in open mic nights at establishments all across the city of Chicago, such as The Roxy, The Last Laugh, and The Comedy Cottage. Pardo was able to leave his day job as a sales representative for MCA Records because there were so many popular comedy clubs in the neighborhood at the time. This allowed him to start making money very immediately.

In addition to his comedic albums Uno, Pompous Clown, and Sprezzatura, Pardo had an appearance on the comic collection CD Death-Ray in the year 2007. From June to October of 2003, Pardo served as the host of the National Lampoon’s Funny Money program on GSN. Subsequently, he co-hosted the AMC program Movies At Our House with Rachel Quaintance for a total of five seasons.

Mike Sweeney, the chief writer for The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien, was the one who recommended that Pardo play the role of the warm-up comic for the show. Conan has invited him back to perform as the opening act, and he also made an appearance in a recurring on-air skit that aired during the week of April 11, 2011. Beginning in May of 2011, he started doing backstage interviews with famous people who were guests on a web series that was named “The Pardo Patrol.”

After doing live discussions and game shows at alternative comedy venues such as the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater, Jimmy Pardo started the podcast Never Not Funny at the request of Matt Belknap, who is now the producer of the program. The program is now in its thirty-first season and is considered to be one of the pioneers in the field of podcasting. Several people have referred to Pardo as a “pioneer” of podcasting.

Improvised interactions with other comedians are the primary focus of the show Never Not Funny. Doug Benson and Paul Gilmartin are just two of the many people who have gone on to broadcast their podcasts after having been guests on his show. Smile Train is a worldwide children’s organization that assists children who have cleft lip and palate. Pardo holds an annual charity telethon that lasts for twelve hours and donates the proceeds to Smile Train.

Up to this point, the yearly telethon event has collected more than $1.2 million, which is equivalent to 4,800 surgical procedures. Spozzatura is the name of the comedy CD that Pardo released in September 2013. During the year 2017, Pardo and Matt Belknap introduced a new podcast that they called Playing Games with Jimmy Pardo. In 2019, Pardo, Matt Belknap, and Eliot Hochberg, a cameraman, started uploading episodes of the online series Jimmy’s Records and Tapes to YouTube.

In each episode, Pardo discusses the events that transpired in his life during a certain year, while also showcasing music and information that pertains to that year. Jimmy Pardo, a comic who has spent years warming up the late-night crowd for Conan O’Brien, has become a podcast favorite with his podcast, Never Not Funny. One of the podcasts that has stood the test of time.

In Never Not Funny, Pardo competes against a cast of real-life individuals that is always shifting. These characters include co-host Matt Belknap and Pat Francis, who serves as the unofficial third chair. NNF’s annual Pardcast-A-Thon, which will raise money for Smile Train, will begin on March 4th, and Pardo and Belknap will be participating in it. The previous year, Pardo and his firm were able to raise more than $181,000.

Pardo has been shooting the shit with hilarious people since 2006. Along the process, he has established one of the most distinguishing archives of interviews with members of the “alternative comedy” culture, which has virtually swallowed mainstream American stand-up comedy. Never Not Funny went from having modest beginnings to being introduced at a time when the Apple podcasting store was mostly empty.

There were stand-up performances on Friday and Saturday evenings, as well as a live tape of Never Not Funny on Sunday afternoon, during his three-night stay at Cap City Comedy Club, which took place over the preceding weekend. If you want to hear a version that is tonally and atmospherically similar to what you missed from Pardo’s two sets, you might listen to his comedy album Sprezzatura, which was released in 2013. The word “Sprezzatura” comes from the Italian language and means “perfect conduct or performance of something (as an artistic endeavor) without apparent effort.”

Because of the snugness of those cardigan sweaters that Pardo likes so much, the term “crowd-work comedian,” which is something of a phrase that is overused, fits well with the description of Pardo. Pardo, in the spirit of “sprezzatura,” long ago abandoned planned material in favor of building a profession out of improvising onstage, communing with his audience, and relying back on his instincts to evoke laughs in fast succession. This helped him build a successful career.
