Jenna Wortham was born on 4 November 1982. In the United States, Jenna Wortham is an accomplished journalist who is highly known. They co-host the podcast Still Processing with Wesley Morris for The New York Times in addition to their job as a culture journalist for The New York Times Magazine. Both of these jobs are for The New York Times. In the year 2020, Kimberly Drew and Wortham compiled a collection of creative works by black artists and writers under the title Black Futures, and Wortham was one of the editors of that collection. The beginning of Wortham’s career in journalism was spent in San Francisco, where they worked as a freelance journalist. After that, they found employment at Wired, where they remained until being recruited by the Times in the year 2008.

Wortham was born in Alexandria, Virginia, and went on to receive his degree in medical anthropology from the University of Virginia after spending his youth there. 2004 was the year they were awarded their diploma. After receiving their bachelor’s degree, Wortham moved to San Francisco and began working as a writer for SFist in addition to holding internships at local publications such as San Francisco Magazine and Girlfriend Magazine.

In the end, Wortham was able to secure employment with Wired as a technology and culture correspondent.  They began working as a correspondent for The New York Times in 2008, covering topics related to technology and business. Not only has Wortham been praised for its reporting on technology advancements, but it has also been praised for its astute analysis of a wide range of cultural concerns. A shining article for Lemonade prompted Beyoncé to send the author a thank-you email, which she signed “Love, Beyoncé,” as well as a gram from Wortham. A number of additional topics, such as LGBT identity and the interaction of race and gender in television, have been investigated in Wortham’s literature.

Diamond Sharp praised Wortham for their “incisive writing and the kind manner in which inside the world. (They) is, without hyperbole, one of the most important minds working in media.” This acclaim was included in Rookie’s publication. The writing of Wortham can be found, for example, in the collections “Never Can Say Goodbye: Writers on Their Unwavering Love for New York” and “An Experience Absolutely Worth Supposedly Having: Travel Tales from The Hairpin”, both of which were published in 2014 and 2013, respectively. Wortham directed the editing of a collection of work named Black Futures, which was published in December 2020 by the One World imprint of Random House. Along with Kimberly Drew, Wortham was responsible for the book’s editing.

Wortham is now working on a collection of articles he plans to call Work of Body. This collection of essays explores “formative experiences as a queer Black person, against the backdrop of technology and the greater history of Black bodies in America.” Penguin Press is going to be the one to publish “Work of Body.” In 2017, the Zora Neale Hurston Fellow program was introduced at the Jack Jones Literary Arts retreat for the first time. Wortham participated in this program. They were presented with a MacDowell Fellowship in 2018, an honor bestowed upon them by the illustrious MacDowell Colony. In the year 2020, the Kelly Writers House bestowed fellowships on both Wortham and Morris in recognition of their achievements.

The New York Times and an up-and-coming podcasting company known as Pineapple Street Media collaborated to make the podcast. The premiere episode of the show was praised by viewers as having “an incredible mix” and “refreshing” qualities, and it was subsequently featured on “best of” lists that were created at the end of the year by publications such as The Atlantic, The Huffington Post, and IndieWire. In the year 2020, the podcast was put forth for consideration for a magazine award presented by the American Society of Magazine Editors.
