Henry refers to his audience as his “Strings,” and he is a member of the composing team for the organization known as “NoizeBank.” In 2013, he released his debut extended play (EP) titled “Trap,” which was well-received by critics and fans alike. The following year, in 2014, another EP titled “Fantastic” was released. He has appeared in a number of variety shows, such as “Hello Counselor” and “2 Days & 1 Night,” as well as television dramas, such as “Oh My Venus,” and films, such as “Final Recipe.”
Henry Lau was born on October 11th, 1989 in the city of Toronto, which is located in the province of Ontario, Canada. His mother is from Pingtung, Taiwan, and his father hails from Hong Kong. His Teochew ancestry is passed down through his father. It was his mother who taught him how to play the piano when he was five years old, and when he was six years old, he began studying the violin.
In the course of his musical education, he became proficient in a number of other instruments, including the electric violin. Later on in his career, he was awarded the Regional Gold Medal of the Canadian Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) for Level 10 in both the piano and the violin. Henry attended schools such as “Kenollie Public School,” “Steelesview Public School,” and “Zion Heights Junior High School” over the course of his education.
He spent his formative years in Willowdale, a neighborhood in the city of Toronto that is home to residents of the middle class. After finishing the ninth grade at ‘North Toronto Collegiate Institute,’ he transferred to ‘A.Y. Jackson Secondary School’ in Toronto to finish the rest of his high school education there. He started learning the boogaloo popping dance form when he was a senior in high school, and after a year of practice, he began competing and performing in dance shows and competitions.
In addition to that, he is proficient in a wide variety of other types of dance. Son took part in the S.M. In 2007, he was a music performance major at the University of Toronto, where he attended for a brief period of time.
He is fluent in the languages of Cantonese, Mandarin, Mandarin Chinese, English, and French. The R&B/rock song “Don’t Don” was released by the Korean boy band “Super Junior” on September 20, 2007, as the lead single from their second studio album also titled “Don’t Don.” Henry’s contribution to the song was the violin part that was played in it. Beginning in 2007, he has made guest appearances on a number of Chinese and Korean variety TV shows, some of which include ‘Star King,’ ‘Hello Counselor,’ ‘Happy Together,’ ‘We Got Married,’ and ‘I Live Alone’.
However, his debut as the “mystery violinist” in “Don’t Don,” combined with rumors of Henry becoming the fourteenth member of “Super Junior,” sparked a controversy, which resulted in fans of the group forming a campaign called “Only 13.” The members of ‘Super Junior-M’ made their public debut on April 8, 2008, at the 8th Annual Music Chart Awards in Beijing. At the same time, the group released their first music video, titled ‘U,’ on Sohu.com on the same day.
The single was a Chinese remake of the original ‘Super Junior’ song ‘U’ and was included as the lead single in the Chinese version of their debut album ‘Me,’ which was released on April 23, 2008. In 2009, he appeared in a cameo role alongside other members of Super Junior-M in the Chinese television drama ‘Stage of Youth,’ which was broadcast on CCTV2, and starred ‘Super Junior member Han Geng in the lead role.
‘My Sweet City’, ‘Oh My Venus’, and ‘Persevere, Goo Hae-ra’ were some of the other dramas in which he appeared. The first ‘Super Junior-M’ mini-album, titled ‘Super Girl,’ was released on September 23, 2009, and was successful in gaining the favor of music fans. As a result, the group received a nomination for “Best Vocal Group” at the 21st Golden Melody Awards, which is the Chinese equivalent of the Grammy Awards.
As a result, the members of the group, including Henry, were thrust into the public eye after their song “Super Girl” reached the top spot on the charts in a number of countries, including Taiwan, China, and the Philippines. After that, he took a detour to pursue his education in music at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. On March 18, 2017, he released his self-written and self-composed digital single titled “Girlfriend.” The song was well-received and reached the top spot on many South Korean daily digital charts after its initial release.
