Bio

Tramar Lacel Dillard was born on September 16, 1979. He has loved music ever since he was a kid, and he received his first taste of actual music thanks to his brother-in-law, who was the hype man for a local rap group called “2 Live Crew.” He joined the amateur rap group GroundHoggz when he was in ninth grade. The other three people were his pals from the building where he resided. For eight years, the quartet was inseparable at work.

After graduating from high school in 1998, he enrolled at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas to study international business management, but he left after only two months. He attended “Barry University,” but he dropped out after a few months to pursue his true love: music.

Over the years, beginning with his first single “Low,” he has produced a string of smash and chart-busting singles and albums, solidifying his position as one of the best-selling music artists of all time. His passion for music began at a young age, and he eventually became a member of the amateur rap group GroundHoggz. His brother-in-law was the hype guy for a local rap group called “2 Live Crew,” which greatly expanded his exposure to hip-hop. At first, he signed with “Poe Boy Entertainment” in an effort to break into the music business.

A number of national and international charts, including the US Billboard Hot 100, were topped by his first single “Low,” which was released by “Atlantic Records.” The song also set a new record for digital download sales and was certified platinum many times. The song appeared on both the soundtrack to the film Step Up 2: The Streets and his debut studio album, Mail on Sunday. Going forward, he produced a number of successful singles and albums, including “Wild Ones,” “Right Round,” and “Whistle,” as well as “R.O.O.T.S.”

He became Fresh Kid Ice’s hype man and backup rapper after the two became acquainted through their brother-in-law. Fresh Kid Ice is a member of the rap group 2 Live Crew. He accompanied Ice on tour in this capacity and can be heard on numerous tracks on Ice’s album, Freaky Chinese. DeVante Swing of Jodeci noticed his work with Ice, and while he did receive A&R coaching, he still wanted to sign with a reputable label but was turned down by the majors. He joined the ‘Hot Boys,’ an American hip-hop group, in the year 2000.

He worked odd jobs and even lived on the streets in his early days while pursuing his artistic love. A representative from the US record label Poe Boy Entertainment called him, and he promptly returned to Florida. He became a member of the label in 2004. His first huge release was the Rick Ross-featured single “Birthday,” which was included on his debut album “Mail on Sunday.”

His debut song, “Low,” from his debut studio album “Letter on Sunday,” was released on October 9, 2007, through “Atlanta Records.” Step Up 2: The Streets, an American dance film, featured a version of a song written by Tramar Dillard and T-Pain and also featuring T-Pain.
The song “Low” became a worldwide phenomenon, topping the charts all over the world. It topped the US Billboard Hot 100, US Hot Rap Songs, US Rhythmic, the Australian Music Industry Association Charts, and the Canadian Hot 100, to name a few.

Three singles, including “Low,” were taken from his 2008 debut studio album “Letter on Sunday.” he first single, “Elevator,” was released on February 11, 2008, and the second, “In the Ayer,” was released on May 20, 2008.

In 2008, he also appeared as a guest artist on songs by Jessica Mauboy and DJ Laz, and on Lady Gaga’s, Ace Hood’s, and DJ Khaled’s albums, The Fame, Gutta, and We Global, respectively. The March 31, 2009 release of this talented rapper’s second studio album, titled R.O.O.T.S, debuted at position #8 on the US Billboard 200 chart. The album sold 55,000 copies in its first week, making it the ninth best-selling rap album of the year.

Six songs from R.O.O.T.S were released as singles; these included “Right Round,” “Shone,” “Sugar,” “Jump,” “Be on You,” and “Available.” The album was nominated for best rap album at the 52nd Grammy Awards. Right Round, the album’s first song, came out on January 27, 2009. It topped the Billboard Hot 100 and Pop 100 charts in the United States, where it stayed at the top of the former for six consecutive weeks.

The song “Right Round” was featured in a number of films, including “Rush Hour,” “The Hangover,” and “Pitch Perfect.” The first three singles from ‘Wild Ones,’ “Whistle,” “Wild Ones,” and “I Cry,” all peaked in the top ten on the US Billboard Hot 100. He also made a guest appearance on “Bad Boys,” a song by British recording artist Alexandra Burke that was released on October 12, 2009, and debuted at #1 on the UK Singles Chart.
