David Dawson Bio

David Dawson is an English actor. He was born on September 7, 1982 in England. His television career has been quite diverse, including roles in The Road to Coronation Street (2010), series 2 of Luther (2011), Ripper Street (2012–2016), The Secret Agent (2016), as King Alfred in The Last Kingdom (2015–2018), and as Joseph Merrick (“The Elephant Man”) in Year of the Rabbit (2019) and My Policeman (2022). His first role on television was in The Road to Coronation Street (2010). David Dawson is a well-known actor in the United Kingdom. In addition to his role as King Alfred in The Last Kingdom (2015), he has also appeared in Road to Coronation Street (2010), Luther’s Series 2 (2011), Ripper Street (2012–2016).

Since 2015, he has held the position of Associate Artist with the Dutch National Ballet, and since 2020, he has held the same position with the Semperoper Ballett. In 2019, he was honored by being bestowed the titles of Artistic Patron of Junior Ballet Antwerp and Choreographer Laureate of European School of Ballet. David Dawson held the position of Resident Choreographer for the Dutch National Ballet, the Semperoper Ballet, and the Royal Ballet of Flanders from the years 2004 to 2012. Dawson has also been asked to serve on the jury for the Prix Benois de la Danse in Moscow and the Dance Open International Ballet Festival in St. Petersburg. Both of these events will take place in Russia.

Dawson is responsible for the production of a great number of ballets all over the world, some of which are full-length versions of Romeo and Juliet, Swan Lake, Giselle, and Tristan and Isolde. Other significant works are; Four Last Songs, Legacy Variations, Affairs of the Heart, Voices, Metamorphosis, Requiem, The Four Seasons, Anima Animus, Citizen Nowhere, On the Nature of Daylight.

Dawson has choreographed the dances 7 Portraits of Solitude for the performers of the Semperoper Ballett, Styx for Maria Kochetkova, and The Swan for Scottish Ballet specifically for the cinema medium.

Dawson’s performance as Smike in the theatrical version of The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby in 2007 earned him a nomination for a Laurence Olivier Award. Arts Institute before being admitted to the acting school at RADA in 2002. Other notable performances include those in the 2009 production of Comedians.

The 2010 production of Posh, and the 2011 production of Luise Miller. During his time as a student at the secondary school, he was a part of the Musketeer Theatre Company, in which he performed in a number of parts, including that of Dogberry in William Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing. Divorced and Desperate was the title of the play that he wrote when he was 17 years old. It was performed at the Queen’s Hall Theatre in Widnes for three nights.

After a year, he wrote and appeared in the play “The Boy in the Bed” at the Tower Theatre in Islington. He received financial support from Barbara Windsor and Julie Walters, to whom he had sent a letter asking for assistance. James is Dawson’s younger brother and has a younger age. After graduating from RADA in 2005, Dawson’s first professional job was as an understudy for Kevin Spacey in Shakespeare’s Richard II for Trevor Nunn. Richard II was the title character in Shakespeare’s play.

Dawson has had guest appearances in the television programs Peaky Blinders, Doc Martin, The Thick of It, and Secret Diary of a Call Girl. In the BBC drama Gracie!, which was based on the life of English singer Gracie Fields, he portrayed the role of Harry Parr-Davies. In the BBC drama “The Road to Coronation Street,” he played the role of Tony Warren, the man responsible for creating “Coronation Street.” In the third episode of the second season of Luther, which was shown on the BBC, he portrayed the role of Toby Kent.

In 2012, Dawson played the role of Bazzard in The Mystery of Edwin Drood and Poins in The Hollow Crown, both of which were BBC Two adaptations of classic works of literature. After that, he made an appearance in the first three seasons of Ripper Street that were produced by the BBC. In 2016, he had an appearance in the adaptation of The Secret Agent that was shown on BBC One. Dawson played the role of David Collins in the series Banished, which aired on BBC Two, and King Alfred in the historical drama series The Last Kingdom, which aired on BBC America and BBC Two. Dawson is a member of the homosexual community and is married to the writer Josh Silver.
