Craig Sheffer Bio

Craig Eric Sheffer is a well-known American actor who has worked in both cinema and television. He was born on April 23, 1960. He is most recognized for his main performances in the films “A River Runs Through It,” “Nightbreed,” and “The Program,” as well as his role as “Keith Scott” on the television series “One Tree Hill.” Sheffer was born in the city of York in the state of Pennsylvania. His father was a security officer at the local jail. Before beginning his career as an actor, Sheffer worked as a newspaper vendor in New York City. For many weeks, he “slept under the marble staircase” in Grand Central Terminal while subsisting on spaghetti meals provided by the Unification Church.

Sheffer initially came to the attention of audiences throughout the country in the role of Ian Hayden on the daytime serial opera One Life to Live on ABC and on the prime time series The Hamptons in 1983. His first leading role in a film was as the best friend of the troubled teenager Emilio Estevez in the 1985 film That Was Then… This Is Now. Subsequently, he played a juvenile delinquent at a reformatory camp in the 1986 film Fire with Fire, an antagonistic rich kid in the 1987 film Some Kind of Wonderful, and the romantic love interest of an overweight cosmetician in the 1989 film Baby Cakes.

Sheffer starred as Aaron Boone/Cabal in the 1990 film Nightbreed, as novelist Norman Maclean in the 1992 film A River Runs Through It, and as Heisman Trophy hopeful quarterback Joe Kane in the 1993 film The Program. Other films directed by Sheffer include Fire in the Sky, Head Above Water, and Sleep With Me. In the latter picture, Sheffer is top-billed and plays the apex of a love triangle that also features Eric Stoltz and Meg Tilly. In the latest installment of Clive Barker’s Hellraiser series, titled Hellraiser: Inferno, Sheffer portrayed the starring role. In addition, he portrayed the lead role in the film Bliss, which was released in 1997 and also featured Sheryl Lee, Terence Stamp, and Leigh Taylor-Young.

In the miniseries A Season in Purgatory, which aired in 1996, Sheffer portrayed the role of Constant Bradley. After playing the role of Keith Scott on the CW Network series One Tree Hill for three seasons until the character was written out of the show midway through season 3, he went on to make several guest appearances in season 4. In June of 2008, he directed the feature film American Crude, a gloomy comedy with Ron Livingston and Rob Schneider in the lead roles. The film was released exclusively on DVD. Sheffer had a brief appearance in the film Stand Up Guys in the capacity of a cameo actor. Joe Mantegna’s career has spanned the last five decades, and he has been in scores of films and television series over that time.

The Chicago-born actor provides the voice of Fat Tony, the mafia leader in The Simpsons, and is perhaps best recognized these days for his role as Special Agent David Rossi on Criminal Minds. Before taking on that position as a voice actor, he had previously featured as Joey Zasa in The Godfather Part III and opposite Warren Beatty and Ben Kingsley in the 1991 film Bugsy, which was about the mafia. However, he also has at least one secret in his acting past that he most likely hopes will never be brought to light. He would probably prefer that it stays securely hidden.

Mantegna portrayed Frank Garner in the awful film Turbulence III: Heavy Metal, which was released in 2001. This film was so bad that it evidently had absolutely little budget, even less success at the box office, and a rating of 22% on Rotten Tomatoes. A terrorist assault on an aircraft carrying a heavy metal band and the fans who have come to see them is the primary focus of this movie. One individual summed it up by saying that it was like “Marilyn Manson fighting Satanists at 10,000 feet.”  The whole film was a complete and utter failure, from the very beginning to the very end. When it comes to the story, the acting, the writing, or the inventiveness, it is extremely missing. It looks and sounds like it was recorded on a cell phone, and it is severely lacking.

Inevitably, given that it is such a terrible movie, it has garnered a minuscule following of supporters who, in a tongue-in-cheek manner, see it as a kind of cult movie. In point of fact, it is not possible to say that it is “so bad it’s good,” but rather that it is “so bad it’s just awful.” It is important to note that Joe Mantegna was not the only actor who made the mistake of agreeing to appear in the film. Mantegna’s participation in the picture, which was the third of a trilogy of terrible movies, raises the issue of why an actor of his caliber would wish to be associated with such a project.

If there had been the promise of a significant budget, which would have meant that Turbulence III would be a picture that would have a chance of really making it on the big screen, it could have been easier to see why someone of his caliber would have seen it as a good opportunity.

Given its current state, there was never any chance that it would become anything other than a source of amusement. And there is no denying that the American-Italian actor is now cringing due to his role in the situation. On the episode of the Drama Queens podcast that aired on April 4, the women interviewed co-star Craig Sheffer about his experience working with the show’s creator, Mark Schwahn, whom Sheffer claims took him by surprise when he was informed that his character, Uncle Keith, would be killed off. According to Sheffer’s account, Schwahn had previously assured him that he would continue working on the CW series “as long as the show runs.”

However, Sheffer said that Schwahn phoned him before to the beginning of production for the third season and remarked, “Yeah, so good news and bad news.” Tells me all there is to know about this amazing opportunity, and then he adds, “And then Paul shoots you.” I go, ‘Okay, so I’m dead? Does it imply that I won’t be compensated from this point on? He was like, ‘Yeah.'”

The actors then moved on to film the terrifying episode, which depicts Keith’s attempts to prevent school gunman Jimmy Edwards from carrying out his plan. In the end, the shooter shoots himself in the head, but not before Dan has already killed Keith and framed Jimmy for the murder.  In the film Code of Honor, which was released in 2016, Sheffer featured opposite Steven Seagal.
