Cole Swindell Bio

Colden Rainey Swindell is a well-known American country music singer and songwriter. He was born on June 30, 1983 in the United States. In addition to releasing four albums for Warner Bros. Records Nashville, he has also written singles for artists like Craig Campbell, Thomas Rhett, Scotty McCreery, and Luke Bryan. He has put out a total of thirteen singles, eight of which have debuted atop the charts for Hot Country Songs and/or Country Airplay. The top 10 now includes three additional singles that have made it there.

His mother passed away in September of 2021, while his father passed away on September 2, 2013, at the age of 65. He is one of three brothers and also has a stepbrother. He was raised in Dawson, Georgia. Swindell received his education at the Terrell Academy in Dawson, which is located in Georgia. Swindell received his education from Georgia Southern University, where he focused his studies on business marketing.

When Luke Bryan came back to Statesboro to play a show, he went to the fraternity home, where he encountered Luke Bryan, who had attended the same university some years before and was also a member of Sigma Chi. Luke Bryan had also been a fellow Sigma Chi member. They remained in contact, and once Swindell graduated from college in 2007 and relocated to Nashville, he worked as a goods salesman for Bryan for a period of three years, during which time he also wrote songs while Bryan was on the road. Swindell entered into a publishing agreement with Sony/ATV Music Publishing in the year 2010.

Craig Campbell’s “Outta My Head” was written by Swindell, as was Luke Bryan’s “Just a Sip,” “Beer in the Headlights,” “Roller Coaster,” “Out Like That,” “I’m Hungover,” and “In Love with the Girl.” Swindell also co-wrote Florida Georgia Line’s “This Is How We Roll” with Bryan, who was a featured artist on the track. In addition, Chris Young featured a song on his A.M. album titled “Nothin’ but the Cooler Left,” which was co-written by Swindell.

In 2013, Swindell’s independently released debut single “Chillin’ It” became a hit, and the following year, he got a record deal with Warner Music Nashville. The success of the single was fueled by a significant broadcast on SiriusXM satellite radio channel “The Highway.” Before “Chillin’ It” had even been mastered, the radio received the demo version of the song. On February 18, 2014, Swindell released his debut album, which was simply titled “Swindell.”

The remaining tracks on the album were produced by Michael Carter, who is Luke Bryan’s guitarist. Swindell and Lee Brice were the first acts to perform on Bryan’s That’s My Kind of Night Tour in 2014. The song “Chillin’ It” climbed all the way to number one on the Hot Country Songs Singles chart after debuting in the top five on Country Airplay. “Hope You Get Lonely Tonight” is the second single from the album, and it was written by Swindell, Florida Georgia Line’s Tyler Hubbard, and Brian Kelley.

The song “Ain’t Worth the Whiskey” is the third single from the album and was released to country radio on November 3, 2014. In April 2015, it climbed all the way to the top spot on the Country Airplay chart. The song “Let Me See Ya Girl” is the fourth single from the album, and it was initially broadcast on country radio on April 20, 2015. In November 2015, it climbed all the way to the second spot on the Country Airplay chart. The Down Home Sessions is the name of a digital extended play that was published by Swindell on November 17, 2014. The publication of the album occurred at the same time as the headline tour that bore the same name.

In April 2015, Swindell was selected as the recipient of the ACM New Artist of the Year Award. On December 14, 2015, the first single from the album, titled “You Should Be Here,” was distributed to country radio stations. In collaboration with Ashley Gorley, it was written. In April 2016, it was both the most-played song on Country Airplay and the most-played song overall on the Hot Country Songs list. “Middle of a Memory” is the second single from the album, and it was released to country radio on May 2, 2016.

In November 2016, it climbed all the way to the top of the Country Airplay chart. The song “Flatliner” from the album, which features Dierks Bentley and was released to country radio on January 23, 2017, is the third single from the album. In August 2017, it hit the number two spot on the Country Airplay chart. “Stay Downtown” is the fourth single from the album, and it was released to country radio on September 5, 2017. On the list of top country radio singles compiled by Mediabase, “You Should Be Here,” “Middle of a Memory,” and “Flatliner” all debuted at number one.

Swindell also made a music video for the song, which featured a video of him telling his father that he received a record contract and subsequent montages of Cole and his brothers crying outside of the family house and at their father’s grave. The video was released alongside the song. In the video, there are also depictions of Swindell’s growing notoriety, and it is made abundantly obvious that he expressed a desire to be able to see his father and share the experience of becoming famous with him.

On February 23, 2018, Swindell released the “Break Up in the End” lead single from his third album. The release date of Swindell’s third studio album, titled All of It, was August 17, 2018. In July 2018, after the album was made available for pre-order, Swindell released the number-one song “Love You Too Late” as a promotional single. The song went on to become a number-one hit. The song “Love You Too Late” was selected to serve as the official second single for the album and was broadcast for the first time on November 19, 2018.

On May 22, 2020, “Single Saturday Night” was released as Swindell’s lead single from his fourth studio album. On November 19, 2021, a duet titled “Never Say Never” featuring Lainey Wilson was released shortly afterward. On April 8, 2022, Swindell released his fourth studio album, titled Stereotype.

After the release of the album, Swindell released the third single, titled “She Had Me at Heads Carolina.” This song was a cover of Jo Dee Messina’s single “Heads Carolina, Tails California,” which was released in 1996. This record has gone on to become the most successful hit of Swindell’s career up to this point, having spent four weeks at number one on the Country Airplay chart, as well as becoming his first Top 20 single on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
