Meloni’s father passed away in 2012.

He is the younger sibling of an older brother and sister. In addition to having French Canadians for his maternal lineage, he is also a descendant of Matthias Farnsworth. His father’s side of the family is Italian; two of his great-grandfathers were born in Italy (one in Velva and the other in Sardinia). Meloni was a quarterback for the football team while he was a student at St. Stephen’s School, which is now known as St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes School], which was located in Alexandria, Virginia. He attended the University of Colorado at Boulder for his acting training and received his degree in history from that institution in 1983.
